Would KB Swings Be a Good Replacement for Cardio? Too Much Possible?

Hi Everyone,

With Coronavirus, I have taken over two years away from any cardio. Yes, I have gotten fat. But, to tell you the truth, I never liked cardio much.

It always interfered with strength gains, was boring, tightened up hip flexors, etc.

I do have a 20 kilogram kettlebell at my office. When I get restless, I do sets of 10 one-armed KB swings, etc.

1. If I do KB swings or other exercises after weight lifting, and on my off days, can this be a sufficient replacement for cardio?

I just love the way KB swings get my shoulders stronger, posture better, etc.

2. Could a person do too heavy KB swings, or too many KB swings?

In theory, someone can overdo itanything. But, when I do 200 kb swings one day, I cannot do that many the next.

As for weight, here in China, I could easily get a 32 kg kb from the same company. A 40 kilogram, etc. might be even more expensive, than possible.

How heavy is too heavy? With barbells, the equation is simple, too heavy means we cannot lift it. With KB, the answer is more complex, as we can probably move any weight, just not effectively.

I would alternate as they can have their place I. A workout. I wouldn’t trade off

If a kb is all that you have to work with then you can still create a multi-day split using many different kb movements.

legs:
Kb swings
goblet squats
squat cleans
kb one legged deadlifts
kb pistols

upper
kb floor press
kb shoulder press
kb jerk
kb snatch
kb swings

etc etc
if you want cardio you could incorporate HIIT approach a few times as week. Try a tabata approach like:
4 minutes of
20 seconds max kb goblet squats
10 seconds rest

4 minutes of
20 seconds max kb swings
10 seconds rest

4 minutes of
20 seconds max kb clean and jerk
10 seconds rest

4 minutes of
20 seconds something else
10 seconds rest.

that's a solid 16 minute HIIT workout.
