I am surprised we haven't been hit yet......

Word is, the Muslim community in the USA has been far more loyal than those over in Europe. They have been very cooperative with the authority in keeping the government informed of what goes on in their communities. A lot of incidents where informants have contacted the FBI and as a result of the FBI knocking around the bush, terror plots failed to come through.

Al Qaeda has instructed its operatives to stay away from the US muslims, after been burned several times.

Therefore, it is prudent that we don't alienate our own allies by brushing every muslim with the same brush. ( I know that is not the intention of this thread.)

There always is and always will be some extremist group operating..or at least trying to operate in the US. Talk to an ex CIA/FBI/NSA person and they'll tell you about Shin Fien, the various Basque seperatist groups, tons of anti-establishment or communist groups all looking to recruit, fish for info, scope out potential targets.

I don't see these muslim extremist groups as any different in terms of how law enforcment operates. We will get them eventually.

Oh they are different in many ways for sure and all that has on impact on law enforcement. Some form of terrorism can be defeated, and has been defeated using law enforcement methods. There is another form that requires military approach. The lefties like to whine about this, b/c they ASSume that terrorism is simply a law enforcement issue when in reality it is far more complex than that. Law enforcement methods against Islamic terrorism, will cost more innocent lives, at best, and total failure, at worst.

In the Spec Op community, there is a growing recognition that it is a matter of time when we have a Beslan over here. And none of our LEOs are equipped or trained to handle it. It will be an absolute blood path......

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is still investigating a recent incident in which a large pipe bomb was found floating in Lake Pontchartrain, north of New Orleans. The device was examined, it was definitely a floating bomb, and was detonated while still on the water. While not a large explosive device, it reminded everyone at DHS that a major terrorist threat is the destruction of one of the railroad bridges over the Mississippi river. These bridges carry a major amount of freight traffic, and the loss of even one of them (if only for a few weeks, while being repaired) would have a noticeable effect on the economy. Al Qaeda knows about this, thus counter-terrorism officials are trying to found out who made the Lake Pontchartrain bomb. That's because this device had all the hallmarks of a test, for a larger bomb capable of dropping one of the nearby Mississippi river bridges.

I picure a LE that is also SO trained in the very near future. There could also be legislation to allow these units operate in safer and more streamlined fashion such as a giving suspected terrorists one warning to give up and if not, it's open fire.

Compromises like this could help LE/SO to do the job more efficiently without giving carte blanche to the military to operate on US soil...something that is a very real fear for many on both sides of the isle. I think most people can agree that LE will have to become more specialized and better able to blend their efforts with other state and federal entities.

I already knew of such extremist groups in the above listed areas. It's no surprise as they also have Most likely 10x the amount of Sleeper Cells in all of those places. They are simply waiting for the proper date and time with the proper target. It's coming, just wait. America will stop *****ing about Israel f*cking up Lebanon's sh*t and start getting grounded to reality.
