Progesterone in men

I cant seem to find much info on it on the intraweb.

My last tests had progesterone at 1.4 with a range of <1.4 and I just wanted to educate myself a bit on it.

What are some causes and effects from it? All I have gathered is higher progesterone the lower ur libido is and possibly gyno.

Anybody got any other info?

The only inforamtion I know about it is from guys who have run cycles. They said the high levels of progesterone resulted in less firm erections and decreased libido....like you said. I don't remember what they took for it, cabergoline if I remember correctly. I hear cabergoline is some really nasty stuff for the heart. But I have no first hand info on it though.

Progesterone either lowers estradiol, competes with it or acts as an AI, not sure exacly which one. According to my doctor its not bad having it at the top of the range.
I do know its good for joints.

bump. I'm having the same issue with progesterone and can't find a solution ANYWHERE!!! Why isn't this being looked at more thorough!!!! Please, any medicine to help this tell tell

Would suplementing DHT have any effect on lowering progesterone?

How are DHT and Progesterone related? I wonder if this is an issue for some of the finasteride guys. All "regular" bloodwork appears normal in many of them, yet their symptoms still go on.

Progesterone p95 p242
Normal reference 300-1200 pg/mL men
Optimal Range 1500-2500 pg/mL men
Progesterone/estrogen ratio (not clear I think Total E) - 15-20
page 96-quote; "I often find that low progesterone production corrects itself, making ongoing supplementation unnecessary."
Page 242 contains table with normal and optimal ranges for many hormones that we usually check.

Hi guys, ive just joined after lurking around for a bit

I have Progesterone through the roof at 5.6ng/ml
my story can be found on the mesomorphosis forum in the mens health section.

So im quite concerned with this as well

Good question. Maybe I should try that.

Let us know the results if you do Dr. John. It seems like it should since progesterone and DHT seem to work against each other. Estrogen levels will also probably be lowered with DHT supplementation, which would be tricky if the levels are already optimal.

Makes sense. My DHT is on the lower end while my Progesterone on the higher end. When I start the T Gel it should up my DHT somewhat, then we'll see how my Progesterone responds....

Supplementing DHT offers its own perils, keep in mind. This cannot be done willy-nilly.

Yep, thats for sure.

I'm not sure how available DHT cream is. The next best thing would be having a 4mg per gram T Cream compounded. Using measuring spoons, one could measure out as little as 0.5mg of T applied daily to scrotum, adjusting up based on response.

I've always thought that using DHT might be a good alternative to using anti-aromatase medication, like arimidex. If it worked well, it would be a more natural way of controlling estrogen.

You remember David Z he when on DHT cream because he was so low. Problem is don't see him around anymore to find out how he is doing.

I would consider DHT application to the scrotum under the classification "Things Which are Insane".

I think you misread Dr. John. I was saying that in the absence of a DHT cream, a regular T Cream could be used as a substitute at extremely small dosages, which could be applied to the scrotum. As you know T Cream applied to the scrotum will all convert to DHT only.

What do you think of DHT's possible use as an anti-aromatase?
