I need somebody's help with an issue. I've been using the R+ALA that a
board owner gave me as a gift. It's about a kilo and a half or so.
I was thrilled cuz it is my most expensive supp I take every day.
It was saving me a lot of money. Since home, I've been reading
about how sensitive R+ALA is to light, heat and changes in
temperature. Mine came in the winter time and has never gotten hot
(as far as I know). However, I need to know to what degree it is
polymerized and if it is trapping solvents, etc that will harm me.
I am not sure how much of this is marketing hype or not. I've been
reading about the new K-R+ALA or whatever, but if mine has much
active ingredient, I want to use it, esp since I've got so much of
it. I know the R+ALA I had been using before that was sometimes
gummy and stuck to the sides of the bottle it came in. I would just
use whatever powder I could from it. It worked just fine! I could
tell, mostly after carb depletion then a 24 hr carb up -- huge
difference w/that R+ALA I used at that time. My R+ALA (now) sticks
together kind of "clumpy", but is not "gummy" at all. I can still
see the crystals, etc... I chop it up to cap for myself and it is
kind of "fluffy" and not "dusty" at all, but not "gummy" either...
It is just "clumpy"... if you can envision what I'm saying.....
Please help me, somehow, determine if my stuff is good or not.

Thanks

Are you referrin to Syntrax R Alpha Lipoic Acid? I was just about to make a thread regarding the quality of this product. Do you know if theres really a difference when comparing this particular ala's to regular ala's other then the price difference?

I do not know anything about the Syntrax R+ALA product. I do know that Derek Cornelius is brilliant and on par with Pat Arnold, IMO. They are both chemistry wizards. Derek would not market a product any less than excellent quality.

I do believe you will pay more for the Syntrax label, even if it's quality and purity is the same as a "generic" equivalent, so to speak. If peace of mind is an issue, pay more and go with Syntrax. L.I.F.E. Research has an outstanding quality R+ALA product. I've used it with excellent results.

Hope that helps.
