I've cross posted these from my Invalid Link Removed, taken right before I started.

Biggest challenges are working around my back (injury) and my elbows (chronic tendinitis).

I'm 42 (and 6 months if you want to get technical). M/W/F weight training, T/TH Minutes Muay Thai. I'm doing full body using a 5x5 philosophy, although I do 4 sets instead of 5:

Monday/Friday
Squats (4 sets)
Incline Press (4 sets w/straight bar)
Close Grip Pull Downs (4 sets)
Seated Military Press (4 sets w/straight bar)
Max Dips
Max Curls (DB, straight bar or machine)
20 - 30 mins heavy bag work
Stretching

Wednesday
Squats (3 sets)
Deadlift (3 sets)
Incline Press (3 sets w/straight bar)
Pec Dec (2 sets x 10 reps)
Clean to Press from Thighs (4 sets)
Max Dips
Max Curls (DB, straight bar or machine)
20 - 30 mins heavy bag work
Stretching

Tuesday/Thursday
90 mins Muay Thai, sparring and bag/pad work)

Saturday or Sunday (not both)
2 mile run

June or July? You and I are the same age.

I also share the injured status as well. Working through it :)

July 17th!

For me, the mental aspect of the injury has been the longest lasting and even now still lingers. For 25 years, I pretty much did whatever I wanted in the weight room. I was never huge, but for my build and size I could move some decent weight. My body never let me down. I knew my limitations and wasn't afraid to push them a bit upon occasion.

Then in summer 06, I had my first real injury, and it was with a weight I'd done before. I was in real pain for two weeks, and the physical discomfort lasted almost 4 months.

Even though it's been more than 18 months since the injury, I have yet to regain the confidence in my body, in my strength and resiliency, that I once had. I'm not sure I ever will. I'm no longer sure of my limitations. I'm afraid to stack the weight on like I once did, confident that I can handle it. What if I can't?

That injury was the first real indication that I wasn't 25 any more, even though, up to that point, I could keep up with any 25 year in the gym, and out lift most of them, even those that were 20 - 40 pounds heavier. It was a wake up call that no matter what I did, how I exercised, what I ate, or how much effort and focus I put into fitness, I was never, ever going to get any younger. That was a hard pill to swallow.
