Acetylcarnitine significantly improved mental fatigue (p =.015) and propionylcarnitine improved general fatigue (p =.004). Attention concentration improved in all groups, whereas pain complaints did not decrease in any group. Two weeks after treatment, worsening of fatigue was experienced by 52%, 50%, and 37% in the acetylcarnitine, propionylcarnitine, and combined group, respectively. In the acetylcarnitine group, but not in the other groups, the changes in plasma carnitine levels correlated with clinical improvement.
CONCLUSIONS: Acetylcarnitine and propionylcarnitine showed beneficial effect on fatigue and attention concentration. Less improvement was found by the combined treatment. Acetylcarnitine had main effect on mental fatigue and propionylcarnitine on general fatigue.

Thanks man. That second study is interesting, and I checked, it was 2g of each for combined treatment, not 1g of each, so they were receiving more total carnitine than the other groups. It looks like they took the carnitine(s) split after breakfast and dinner, which means the combined group took both ALCAR and PLCAR at the same time. I'm wondering if taking them at different times would have yielded better results, although I could be completely wrong here. Perhaps maybe 2g ALCAR in the AM and 2g PLCAR pre-workout, or whatever fits your personal needs/timing. Odd...combined treatment had less effect on fatigue than using each independently. Def. something to think about.

I can break out the scale, but approximately what measure equates to the 1 - 1.5g dose? 1/4tsp, 1/2tsp? I can always double check against the scale, just wondered if you already had a rough estimate.
I saw some posts that talked about 2g doses, or is that the daily goal in the 1 - 1.5g twice daily dose you noted?

I chalked it up to needing a bit of a caffeine break, but since taking the break and cutting out PWO crap, I just take PLCAR, Creatine, and am running on alphaburn... and my god, my workouts have been insane!

I don't have a scale so can someone give me an idea of how much 1-1.5 grams is? I want to take a dose pre workout today so if anyone knows, that would be great. Thanks
My tub says that the 1 rounded scoop is 1.1g, but I didn't break out the scale to check it. I took 2 scoops of it this morning, added to my PWO, thinking I was getting 2g+ ,but I guess I had just over 1g. That might explain my lack of results when I tried 1 scoop by itself last week.1.8gm would be less than a flat teaspoon, maybe 3/4? I weighed a flat scoop (my tub had one), and it was approx 600mg.
Id guess 1.5gm to be just over half a teaspoon.
Edit: I packed three of the 600mg flat scoops into a teaspoon, was over 3/4 full. 1 flat teaspoon would fit approx 2gm. Hope that helps lol
