Although MuscleMedia magazine was just a front for EAS to sell their supplements, there is one diet that still has some relevance today: ABCDE.

From what I understand, this diet is based on one study of females who raised the IGF-1 and Testosterone by overfeeding for two weeks, then got optimal fat loss by dieting for two weeks.

Many people such as Anthony Ellis of "MuscleGainTips.com" etc. said to eat 20x per pound of bodyweight in calories when bulking, and 10x calories per pound of bodyweight when cutting. I like the idea of using the cutting diet to get down to under 8% bodyfat, and the bulking diet to get up to 12% bodyfat, rather than a two week period.

What is the current state of research for underfeeding or overfeeding diet hormone availability? I always thought it was more a mathematical equation of calories in versus calories out, the same way an Excel Spreadsheet would work. But, now it seems like hormones have some relevance.
