Bulk Fish Oil feedback

That really was painful..and I even set him up with a softball for it.

lol

"AND HE ROUNDS THIRD....IT'S...IT'S....A HOMERUN!!!!"

We're hoping to be able to knock it back down...delivery fuel surcharges jacked us HARD.
Damn them gas prices (we're almost pushing $4 over here).

Anyways, I can't complain about the price. Only the availability. Had to take it out of my order cuz I didn't want to wait. Heh. Oh well, next order I guess.....

do u guys rkn its safe for me to take 40 caps a day??? i'm currently just taking the standard 1000mg fish oil 180 EPA and 120 DHA.

...Can't say "no fish burps" are much of a review... Could you guys be a LITTLE more specific?
...

The importance of this should not be underestimated. I had a fish burp once when I was hung over and immediately threw up! It was awful:aargh:

So how many do you all recommend taking per day? 10 caps, assuming a gram per capsule?

10 caps/day is optimal? Okay cool...I've been taking 6 caps/day for as long as I can remember but I will increase to 10 and see if I notice any additional benefits...everyone agree it's best to split the 10 caps per day over several servings?

well i've been told differently. i thought we were to measure the amount of epa and dha in the fish oil caps. As in on another site several coaches recommend up to 40 grams of dha/epa and minimum of 10 grams of dha/epa. So 10 grams of dha/epa would require 33 capsules.

That's a lot of caps!

sorry i forgot to say 10 grams minimum of the epa/dha for fat loss purposes.

Do you know the suggested dosage for maintenance of heart health and healthy lipids? That's really why I take fish oil in the first place.

I would shoot for 5-6 grams EPA/DHA a day.

I usually toss back 3-4 at a time whenever I am in the area of the cabinet, which works out roughly to around 20 per day, or 6 grams EPA/DHA.

I may have to try that, I'm finding Sesamin do be doing jack for me (I swear Avants works better and certainly tastes different). I'm thinking cut that out and up CLA to 9ed and FO to maybe 18-20

This looks like a great combo. I agree that Avant's Sesathin seems to be the only one with potent effects.

i've been taking 40+ caps for about 1 month now and after a couple of days of taking it i caught a cold. i wen to the dr. and he prescribed me with some antibiotics to take for a whole week. well i took the antibiotics and was better for a day after i finished taking them. But then i got sick again and have been sick for about 1 month. Keep in mind that throughtout the whole time i've been sick i've been dosing at 40+ caps a day. i've done some reading around and came across this.

Fish oils and the immune system
OXFORD, UNITED KINGDOM. Animal studies have shown that an increase in fat intake can decrease the number of natural killer (NK) cells found in the blood and spleen. NK cells are an integral part of the natural immune response to virus infections and certain types of cancer. Researchers at Oxford University now report that fish oil significantly decreases NK cell activity in healthy human subjects.

Their clinical trial involved 48 men and women aged 55 to 75 years. The participants were randomized to receive one of six supplements for 12 weeks. The supplements were all provided in the form of capsules, three of which were to be taken with each meal. The nine capsules (daily intake) contained either a total of 2 g alpha-linolenic acid, 770 mg gamma-linolenic acid (from evening primrose oil), 680 mg arachidonic acid, 720 mg docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), 720 mg eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)+ 280 mg DHA (fish oil) or a placebo (an 80:20 mix of palm and sunflower oils). All the participants had blood samples taken four weeks before start of supplementation, immediately before start of supplementation, and then every four weeks during the trial as well as after a four-week washout period. The researchers found no changes in killer cell activity except in the group taking fish oil. Here they observed an average decline of 20 per cent after 8 weeks and 48 per cent after 12 weeks. The decline was completely reversed after the washout period. The fact that no decline was observed with pure DHA strongly suggests that EPA was responsible. The researchers conclude that an excessive EPA intake could have adverse effects for people at risk of viral infections and some cancers. Editor's Note: The British researchers' speculation about fish oils perhaps affecting the effectiveness of NK cells in killing cancer cells is at odds with the results of many other studies. There are at least a dozen studies that show a clear protective effect of fish or fish oil against breast, colon, and prostate cancer. NOTE: This study was partly funded by Unilever. [54 references] Thies, Frank, et al. Dietary supplementation with eicosapentaenoic acid, but not with other long-chain n-3 or n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, decreases natural killer cell activity in healthy subjects aged >55 years. American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Vol. 73, March 2001, pp. 539-48

So im just gona lay off the fish oil for a week and see whether my immune system bumps back to optimum lvls.

Will you guys carry Fish Oil in liquid form instead of pill form anytime soon?

We're working on doing a flavoured liquid, but I doubt it will be perfected anytime soon.

Sounds good. Heck, don't even worry about the flavor, I'm just gonna toss it in a protein shake or some OJ or something that will cover it up anyway.

Tell you what...I will see about getting some material sent that we can put into the squirt bottles.

Interesting study. Although it was mentioned at the end that at least a dozen other studies have refuted this one by showing that fish oil helps with preventing certain cancers. But do those refuting studies say anthing about natural killer cells?

Heh...Now I'm pimping Nutraplanet's bulk fish oils on one of my tech forums. Some of the fellas were asking if fish oils were good for you. It came to the conclusion that the were, then one member posted a place to get GNC "no fish burp" for 90caps for $10. Needless to say I said I thought 1000 for $25 was a slightly better deal :)

Do a sesamin mix, or at least bring back bulk sesathin as well. But hell yes to the bulk liquid fish oil, that would rock.

I just got TWO bags of bulk caps, my family is set for a while (2 dogs, my wife and I). My wife gets fish burps and hasn't once complained of them yet

All of my dogs LOVE these things like special treats. Great for their coats, and you can tell intelligence-wise when they have been eating them for a few days straight. They just seem more alert.

Yep. I started giving my rotty-shepard fish oil pills about 5 years ago and I could see the difference in him in just one week. His eyes got clearer, he got a ton of energy and started causing trouble like he was a puppy again. He's 12 now but still acts like a young punk.

It would be interesting to raise a pup out of a litter on fish oil and see how much smarter it is compared to controls.

My baby girl slurps down her 2 teaspoons of Carlson's every night. She thinks it's a treat.

We are actually looking into a flavor-enhanced fish oil with a slightly thinner gelatin encasement for pets. While the English Mastiffs gobble them up easily, our Blue Pointer is a bit freaked out about the "feel" of standard human fish oils.

My dogs take to them like treats, although my cane corso (being the picky and oddball one), likes to break them open on the floor first.

Yep...I find the little dog plays with it like a toy for a while first.

Dsade,

What is the recommended protocol for sesamin, cla and fish oil? Take them all at the same time with a meal? I've been reading some different opinions so I appreciate the help. I'm trying to get a good dosing plan together for my wife.

Thanks

Are these bulk caps similar to NOW fish oil?

Just wondering because I ordered the bulk ones yesterday, along with Xtend and Isopure. My bank account is :(

But my body will soon be :)

I'm trying to finish up my Natural Valley fish oil caps before I get anymore. The bottle has about 300 count, 1200mg caps.
