Took a bit of a mental break over the last 2 months. Perhaps It would be more accurate to say, I had a mental breakdown 2 months ago, although this sounds dramatic now I have committed it to page.

I have been training, trying to work through a powerlifting recovery program written for me by my local famous PL coach, but it has not led to any real progression, just pain, so I have quit it.

Whatever, I'm falling back into a routine now, and finally the urge to document it has returned.

Current stats & feels:

102kg & flabby, I was really sick for 3 weeks and awesomely lost heaps weight while getting fatter, to the point that my belly is on the way to becoming a gunt. I'm ridiculously horny, mildly depressed (this is lifting), overworked, and in pain pretty much 24hrs per day. Not taking anything though, but considering a Sarms run, mainly because I miss being suppressed - which is definitely not a good reason.

Today:

Hyper extension: BW 4X18
Incline leg press 120kg 5x15
BB bench press 60kg AMRAPx28
30kgdb 60kgbb bench press supersede 8:6,8:6,6:6
Cable rope push down dropsets: everything 1 plate below where I was
Cable bar dropsets: same again, shaking.
Duck walks, 3x50 steps
Planche bar pushups 3x15 with full extensions, straight legs and slightly dragging lower body forward. My back fucking l9ves these.

Feel ok.

Mental issues suck azz. You are not alone. I think its a modern curse. Traffic, pressure at work, financial struggle, all the negative things the media is spewing out daily.

A couple of days per month I don't use internet or TV, reading instead and chill. It helps me to keep my sanity.
You will come around again, big feller. If you wanna talk with an old hairy dude about it, PM me.

M9nday 8th July
Isolat pull down, 110kg 3x8
Unilateral seated row, 120kg 3x8
Preacher curl 40kg 3x8
Seated Db curl 15kg 3x6
Wide grip pull up 3x5

Starting to get on top of my diet. Not quite up to tracking food just yet, but slowly working the emerging threads of my intent back into those facets of my life for better self control.

Not squatting feels good. Did some movement tests with my physio and discovered my spine briefly flexes at the very beginning of the downward movement. He believes this is inflaming my back which is totally jacking up nerves to my right hip & groin. More leg press for me.

Catching up on everybody's logs is so motivating. I feel like things began to spiral for me when I ran out of time for AM. It's almost like a daily meditation now that I am taking the time to do it again.

These psychological shifts are weird, right? I feel as though I am returning slowly to my body, as if at some point I switched 'me' off, and just fell through the last 2 months. Now I am returning to this fat, middle aged, crippled, horny penis-weilding monkey, and suddenly I am suffocating with the viscosity of my existential dilemmas once more.

Wed 17th July

I have fallen back into a productive routine now, going to bed early and waking before my 4am alarm most days, despite the long nights and cold weather.

Gym:
Hyper extension, slow tempo maximum extension 5x15
Benchpress: 60kgx20, 70kgx20, 3x12 with 90kg Db all taken so just bench
Tri cable ope Push down dropsets x3
Tri Cable bar push down dropsets x3
BW pull up wide grip 3x6

Power is returning as inflammation in my back diminishes. Adding volume each week but it is truly an act of discipline.

Also, tracking macros now:

It's Sunday, and I feel like garbage, but I must work today so hitting the gym first.

Psoas March light band 5x6: woke up this morning with tight hips and back, and could literally feel my psoas flossing through all the inflamed tissue.
Bench press 120kg 3x5, 110kg x5
Isolat pull down 120kg 3x8, 110kg 2x8
Db roe 50kg 3x10 each side.
Cable rope tri push down '30' 3x8

Food intake is around the 2500cal mark, and surprisingly I am struggling to eat more. My biggest meal is in the morning post gym, consisting of mcdonalds breakfast food or a pie and cream doughnut, then at lunch and dinner I have been eating meat and salad or veg. Protein intake is a little low, and I think that's why I felt so trashed today. I will pack a double scoop protein shake this week.

Yep.

I have a fair stockpile of SARMs but right now I'm happy to just look at these while rubbing my fingers and making Golum-like noises.
Haha! Same boat. It’s still a bit early to tell but this 12 hr split dosing seems to feel better and provide more recovering sleep. And if it’s just placebo, I’ll take it.

Omg keep forgetting to hit post...so here are the main metrics:

Saturday I pulled 160kg for 5x5 beltless. I am still lurching left slightly, however it's just a learned behaviour because when I focus on staying centred and pulling clean nothing terrible happens! Afterwards I did a little back and bis session:
Bodyweight pull up, top pause slow descent 5x5
Incline unilateral row 55kg each side for 3x8
Preacher curl dropsets 40kg;30kg;20kg for 8,8,10 x3
Seated Db curl 15kg 3x8

With regard to accessory movements right now, I am trying to focus on form and pausing at different stages to experience my weak points. I'm trying to break regular patterns at the moment, and find new strength by exposing my body to the weak spots.

Monday I benched 122.5kg for 4x5. The first 3 sets were really nice form, paused reps and I felt I could comfortably press a sixth however the fifth rep on set #4 was an absolute grinder. Happily, I was able to stay tight and push it up nicely, but I knew I was done after that rep. I felt blissfully fucked, and this was the best session since my hiatus. Did some shoulder stuff afterwards:
Lat pull down '75' 3x8
Side delt raise machine '45' 3x10
TRX windmills and superman.

Physio last night. We looked at my squat form and, amazingly, thoracic flexion has disappeared from the top of the movement. My hips are becoming better stabilised and I'm not getting tightness and headaches. Another 2 to 3 weeks of psoas marches and 20kg kettlebells to the groin and we will start a movement progression from bodyweight squat to barbell back squat.

Wed 31st July:
Psoas March, heavy band 5x6. My psoas is officially recovering, as pronounced by my physio.

I can actually feel it: on mornings when I wake up with a bad back and practice the psoas March I can feel it moving through the inflamed tissue; and now I can lie for minutes with the handle of a 20kg kettlebell jammed through my hip against the head of my right femur where a few weeks ago the pain made it unbearable within seconds.

Leg press: 120kg for 5x12. Knees have been feeling trashed ever since my last leg session, so I left it at 120 and kept an even tempo today.

Tippy toe hypers, 5x12, working up to top pause last 2 sets
Parallel grip pull up bw 5x5
Windmills & supers 5x8
Side delt raise dropsets 8kg:5kg for 10;6 x3sets
Pushups: 3x50
Rowing machine, tabata rows (20:10) x8

Awesome news. I'm always amazed and grateful when something heals up and the pain goes away. It reminds you that happiness is derived from overcoming unhappiness.

Fark! Since starting mk bw has spiked from 102kg to 110kg. Lol! Think I might be overdosing it, measuring 9 scoops with a little stick is a bit dodgey I guess.

Action required. Reduce carb intake & mk dosage. Increase fluid intake. **** cardio though. Nah just kidding, Tabata 5x per week.

All week I have been deloading - bench at 65%, and accessories for 3sets light weight slow negs. Today I ramped it up a little with a chest bro workout, and felt as though my body is approaching pre-hiatus conditioning, metabolically at least.

Looking forward to the week!

So true mate!

Injury is suffering. Suffering is an obstacle. Obstacles motivate us to look for a new path. Looking exposes us to new experiences. New experiences open our minds. An open mind holds no expectations. Satisfaction is cultivated in the absence of expectation. Happiness is a reflection of long term daily satisfaction.

I was avoiding it after hammering my knees last time. Knee sleeves have mitigated most of that though.

Thurs 8th August:
Yesterday was spent crawling around on my back under a house and honestly I had low expectations for my feels this morning. Woke up 2min before alarm feeling stiff, but no pain! So decided to hit the gym, and so glad I did because I am feeling strong!

Benchpress: 125kg 5x5 fucked up my setup for the first set and muscled through it with no leg drive. Thought this was going to impact the rest of the sesh but if anything it made me focus on my setup and form, and even the last set my form felt great. Last rep was a grinder from halfway, which means I am peripherally inhibited now so more tri work needed!
Seated unilateral row 70kg each side 3x8
Side delt raise 7kg:5kg 10:6 x4
Blanche bar pushups 22,15,12 soooo gassed

Sat 10th August

Usual psoas stuff, some osometric & stretchy hypers, then pulls today:

150kg 5x5, no belt, felt stiff and weird for first 2 sets then nice, smooth and easy for the last 3.
Incline unilateral rows, 50kg each side, contraction pause slow neg 5x10
Preacher curl dropsets: still not lifting what I was on Peds, before I tore my left bicep or tendon or whatever it was, but skin splitting pumps today have me optimistic about hypertrophy.
Seated Db curl 3x5 15kg - felt gassed and lactic acid overload
BW pull ups 3x8 - after a 10min break talking **** with a couple of gym bros
