Hey all.

I've signed up at ballys and theres this big jacked guy there he gave me a tour and helped me workout.
But his way was a little different, He said do 6 sets of 8-10 reps for each machine i was doing.
he knew my goals were to bulk up and I've told him that I was doing HD HIT the mike metzner way. I don't think he knew to much about that tho.

I thought this was really weird cuz everything ive read about bulking said to do heavy weight and low reps.
Whats up with this guy?

Anyways, I don't really feel like a fully understand HIT so i'd rather not do it and than do it and not get the full effect.

So what other bulking programs are there?

Also....in the last HIT video with mike. He had markus work his chest/back in the same day. I thought that was a little weird cuz ive always learned Back/Bi's, Chest/Tri's, so i thought i wouldn't question it and just follow the routine. Then when I tell people what muscles i worked out today there all like wait why thats dumb?

could someone explain this to me?
thanksss

That guys sounds like an idiot. 6 sets of 8-10 on each exercise is completely ridiculous and unnecessary. Don't listen to that guy!

i agree with the above post.

But what are your stats ?
maybe he tought you were too fat and wanted to get you on more reps of moderated weight but seems kind of excesive for someone that is just starting(i dont know if thats your sitiation since you didnt gave alot of info)

ch4zl33 is online now is obvious
Add to ch4zl33's Reputation this is to add rep if you said something helpfull people can lick there and make a brief comment and give you reps and you can do the same to others, you cant give reps to yourself, only to other members.|
Report Postif somene breaks the rules or something like that you just click there and type a message or why your reporting that post and a MOD would see it and if its breaking a rule or something they delete , edit or lock it.
Edit/Delete Message this is another obvious

He's also a dumbass for telling you to do machines!Supplement with machines if anything.Never make them a staple unless you're injured and need the support.Or else you'll look like the other guys that do this. You know the ones that come in with sleevless saggy arms and farmer tans and wearing a weigh belt for machine curls while doing the strangest variations of machine and cable curls imaginable.....

hey i dont tink anyone is an idiot if theyr doing wat works for them. Some machines do work better for periods of time than free weights. Aurther Jones (rest his soul) taught us that. i find i bulk better with 8 reps than 6. thats wat works for me and im no idiot. about chest and biceps that makes perfect sence as long as then next day ur not using ur bi's cause u dont fatigue ur bi's by doing chest so u can go all out on them. instead of doin tri's half arse at the end cause they are already half spent (i know u r goin to say ya u ahve half done em so finish em off) but i find i need to isolate my arms more than most! experiment! its the name of the game cause we arnt made the same!

Free weights recruit more muscle fibers.

True but they stimulate a wide variety of muscle fibers. Chest machine versus bench press for example. Machine-Chest, some triceps, minimal shoulder. Bench-chest, shoulder, triceps, forearms, legs to some degree. also lats for stabilazation.

So it depends what your going for, a bodybuilder would incorporate machines, while a strict powerlifter would never consider that sort of treason.

Most bb'rs are mainly free weights though. You just gota do your best to isolate the muscle you're working. With machines you push/pull and thats it.With free weights you have to balance the weights as you push/pull and this is what makes the muscles work harder which recruits more fibers to help out and causes more of an overload to the muscles. Most bb'rs use machines or cables to finish off the muscle with a nice pump and contractions because of it being easier to isolate the muscle. The only BB'r I know of who seems to use lots of machines and cables is Markus Ruhel. He's obvisouly a big dude but most use free weights and then might finish off with machines or cables.
