A candid review

I haven't been on much lately, but I have noticed quite a bit more traffic in the dermal area. Not the dermal expert by any means, but I have tried all the dermals on the market and will make alittle review about them.

1.) Dermabolics Transport Matrix - This was my first dermal that I ever tried. Most remember the 4Derm/Big One combo, well that was me. Spray bottle can be a ***** to work sometimes, but I never had much problems with getting clogged. As far as absorption and overall ease of use.... it was pretty good. You have to let it dry and it does give you a smell of lemon/alcohol for alittle while.. I would stand in front of a fan so it would dry faster. Its really cheap and easy to work with (just drop the powder in). For a premade dermal, I still believe there are better options.

2.) Penetrate - Found at our board sponsor Nutraplanet. As far as the bottle, I didn't like the squirter that came on it. While not as easy to clog, it doesn't spray out in a fine mist like the Dermabolics matrix does. Everything just comes out in the squirt, so you have to be careful that it doesn't splash off your hands and onto the floor. I cupped my hands so it wouldn't splash out. Mixing is very easy. Grind powder very fine, heat penetrate mix slowly. Penetrate is very cheap however, and gives you alot of liquid so you will be able to use a good deal of hormone with it.

3.) T-Gel - As yes, my favorite pre-made dermal. Not a liquid, more of a white goo (lotion if you will). Found at board sponsor Custom Nutrition Warehouse and made by BDC. The only think I do not like about T-Gel is the short neck on the bottle. Makes mixing alittle bit difficult. I did find that by dropping a marble into the bottle made mixing much more efficiently. This is the closest you will come to having a "gel" for your particular hormone. Absorption is very good and easy to apply. It also dries very quickly and smells like lemons :) No splashing or worrying about it leaking out of your hand when applied, as it goes on like a thick lotion.

4.) Phlojel - When it comes to dermals, this is what I would consider to be the best but the most headache. I actually found it was very easy by following the instructions on the website, but this is my sentiment... DO NOT GO ABOVE 100mg/ml. The instructions only go to 125mg/ml on the pdf that I downloaded (apparently there are more instructions but I am not seeing them). In order to get 150mg/ml or 200mg/ml (the best bang for your buck) you need to use a solvent. And my God I must be terrible at using solvents because yes I would grind my powder into very fine granules, add solvent and the **** would just turn into a extremely hard paste that would break up and become blocks (I used Iso and PEG 400). I wasted alot of hormone/phlojel in this process. If you can do this, then hats off to you but for beginners, don't think about going over 100mg/ml. Stick with that and it works great. Absorption is very good. Downsides.. order comes from Canada and it took me 1/2 month to get it (disclaimer is on site 10-12 business days which is what it took for me to get the product). If you are in a pinch, better go with one of the alcohol based dermals, but phlojel is superior IMO for absorption, skin quality and application size (do not need as much area to apply because it can hold higher concentrations.

If I had one last dermal to choose from, I would choose Phlojel but let me say that it takes extra work and patience. If you have a high strung/easily pissed/short ass fuse (yours truly) then it might not be for you especially if you are compounding at very high mg/ml's. Phlojel plus a after spray (BDC's recipe) would probably be the best route to clean up any of the actives that the phlo didn't get through the skin, but at 100mg/ml I recommend Phlo. Hope this helps and I felt like since there is alot more interest/traffic in the dermal section that someone will read and enjoy. These are my thoughts, and will be willing to discuss.

I was able to get 14 grams of DHEA + 3 grams of b-AET + 1 gram each of 7-oxo and 7-OH into Penetrate.

I was very impressed. It has no grit.

Edit - thanks for this. Reps bruh!

I have tried Transport Matrix, T-gel, and Phlojel.

The Transport Matrix spray nozzle always got plugged up, so the bottle wouldn't squirt. Also, I didn't like that it got all over my clothes. To do it right, you're supposed to apply the transdermals right after shower, when your pores are open. When I put on the Transport Matrix mixture, I had to stand in front of a fan for a few minutes to dry off. I decided I wanted a lotion.

I switched to T-gel, and liked it. Then, it became indefinately out of stock.

So I ordered Phlojel, which required the purchase of 60ml syringes and a mortar and pestle. The way the website is structured, you end up paying for shipping seperately on all three items. Also, the 60ml syringes are only available in a box of 50, at $25.00 (US) plus shipping. The mortar and pestle were only $10 or so, but shipping was just as much. So in all, my investment for a 100 gram container of Phlojel (about 2-3 weeks worth) was $80.00. I wasn't happy about the quantity of the syringes I had to buy, and wished I had looked at my local pharmacies first. Now I have a box of 48 that I may never use.

I followed the instructions for preparing my Phlojel mixture explicitly. I ended up diluting my powder much more than I wanted to, because it was obvious as I was making it that even a 10% concentration was going to be too high for the Phlojel to accommodate. Mixing this stuff is a huge pain in the ass, and there is a lot of waste.

When I apply the Phlojel mixture, the powder doesn't absorb at all. It's left on the surface of my skin, and eventually just falls on the floor after the lotion is absorbed. I hate this stuff.

I guess I'll be ordering more Transport Matrix.

Anyone want a box of 48 60ml syringes?

Though I like T-Gel a lot, Penetrate is far more cost efficient to use as it holds more hormone and yeilds more overall liquid. Penetrate IS a pain to deal with because of it's watery consitency, but you learn to have discipline with the squirt pump after a while.

I fit 7 grams 4AD, 7 grams 19 Nor, 7 grams 1 test and 3 grams of 3-alpha total into a bottle of penetrate with no issues...except that this stuff is pretty volatile and flammable during heating so a gas stove is not recommended  ..but don't ask how I know that.

Nice thread Bio. Also have to give a shout out to the BDC Homebrew recipie...has to be an absorption rate close to 40% or higher.

40% IPA
12% IPM
12% IPP
10% OA
10% DMSO
6% D-Lim
5% PG
5% PEG400

Nice thread. Is the BDC afterspray and the BDC topical formula the same thing? I am very interested in making an after spray.

After mixing my brew I put it into a glass cylinder with a sealing lid that is wide enough to get an oral syringe inside. I draw the desired ml's and apply directly to skin while rubbing in. Accurate, no waste/overspray or clogged nozzle.

My last experiment with TNE I added some BA, BB and PS80 to the hormone and a couple oz of Penetrate. I then heated the mixture at 250 degrees for about 12-15 minutes or untill completely clear and homogeneous. I then added it back into the remaining Penetrate. The mixture stayed completely homogeneous with no future shaking or stirring and had absolutely no grit. I did the same with the 1test I am currently using with the same great results. FWIW.

Why BA and BB for a transdermal??
How much TNE into the penetrate (grams)?

It did such a good job dissolving the TNE for the suspension that I figured what the heck and gave it a shot. Besides, that is what I had in stock. :) Last time I used just Penetrate the test would start crystallizing after a time and would feel a bit gritty always. Perhaps just the BA would be enough. I don't know. I figured the PS 80 would help keep the mixture homogeneous. Seems to do just that.

I only go 50mg/ml. I am sure you could go more but I am afraid the carrier may be limited as to how much it can actually get through the skin barrier so I go lower to be safe. Penetrate is inexpensive and I would rather know I am getting ~30% than wonder. JMO
