Also apparently hydroxychloroquine will work but they can’t prescribe it For corona specifically yet . This would be stacked with Z-pak

I was just talking to a doctor today who said it’s not as dangerous as the regular flu so, idk
I don't think alot of doctors are really researching it moreso just going along with whatever the state, cdc or fda tells them and whatever they happen to see on the news. I don't think they are really mentally setup to deal with pandemics. Usually their jobs are pretty cushy and this is like a warzone.

Here is a list of the drugs under investigation. Please don't take any drugs off this list - it states right in the report that some in the list may make it better, or may make it worse. We just don't know yet.

I found it interesting that in addition to hydroxychloroquine, the list includes metformin, lisinipril, mycophenolic acid, haloperidol and rapamycin. Not interesting for any specific reason, mostly just that they are familiar maybe.

wow! Metformin ? If this shows to be truth than it just makes metformin insanely beneficial with the other list of benefits it has

Metformin has a couple studies showing it may improve the effects of other antivirals I believe....

As far as what's been studied so far in covid19 I'm aware of only a few effective treatments.

Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine both FDA approved for other things had 2 studies showing it worked.

Ritonavir/lopinavir an FDA hiv drug with a few studies.

Arbidol a chinese/russian drug that blocks the virus from infecting healthy cells and is some type of immunostimulant. Seems it's used more as a preventative or add on drug. Has 4-5 studies.

Favipiravir a japanese antiflu drug with a few studies.

Remdesivir an experimental US drug that's basically an antiviral mostly case reports.

The last 2 are near impossible to get.

This was a neat study that looked at all known FDA approved drugs that directly inhibited covid19 in the lab anyways.

https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.03.20.999730v1.full.pdf

Chloroquine, lopinavir, and remdesivir were used as reference drugs with IC50 values of 9.12, 7.28, and 11.41 µM, respectively (Figure 1A). Among the 50 drugs that were evaluated in our study, 24 drugs showed potential antiviral activities against SARS-CoV-2 with IC50 values in between 0.1 and 10 µM; Tilorone, Cyclosporine, Loperamide, Mefloquine, Amodiaquine, Proscillaridin, Digitoxin, Digoxin, Hexachlorophene, Hydroxyprogesterone caproate, Salinomycin, Ouabain, Cepharanthine, Ciclesonide, Oxyclozanide, Anidulafungin, Gilteritinib, Berbamine, Tetrandrine, Abemaciclib, Ivacaftor, Bazedoxifene, Niclosamide, and Eltrombopag.

In case you missed it Loperamide aka Imodium is on here of all things. But don't go overdosing on it. I imagine the pain may be worse than covid19.

Doesn't mean doctors listen to the cdc. Some probably think it's overblown. But after talking to a few friends 1 emt and 1 nurse hospitals are not doing well at all so I think this is as serious as it gets gents.

You just said they’re just listening to what they’re told by the CDC, and now you’re saying they’re not listening to what they’re told by the CDC lol.

Ones that go by the book yes they should listen to the cdc and fda its what they are trained for but some dont take their job seriously. If his doc is saying its like the flu sound like he's not paying attention.

I said i dont think alot of docs are uptodate on covid research more what the cdc says. Others probably neither. Like anything its case by case. You know like how everyone is different with varying opinions and feelings.

That doctor should have their medical license revoked, get a full refund from the University they got their degree from, and they shouldn’t be allowed to have any children.
Honestly, I jsut don't know anymore and I'll admit that. I am not taking sides anymore , it's just so surreal to think about. This is just all so crazy. God bless and pray

It's 10x as likely to infect because it's more contagious than the flu. Who's the quack who told you that?
Jesus, he needs to have his medical license questioned.

Pretty crazy how fast it spreads. Just two or three weeks ago no one was really talking about the coronavirus and not that's all everyone is talking about.

Also, taking these two medications together CAN cause a prolonged QT interval (time from ventricular depolarization to repolarization) which can lead to certain cardiac dysrhythmias and eventually death, so...again - these drugs shouldn’t be taken lightly, without a known case of infection or known exposure, and without proper monitoring (edit: didnt finish my sentence...without the above I’d seriously question taking them individually but even more so in combination).

I think this is where most of us are man. We are all aware of the "over reaction" side of all this - but what better option is there? How do we know the exact appropriate reaction? Those aren't questions directed at you, they are rhetorical of course.

It is surreal and hard to get a handle on. Things feel strange. Things we take for granted could be gone. I mean, life is about to change. I've had my LTC for 5 years and have never used it other than to transport other peoples' guns for them. I've never fired a gun. I am considering getting one now. My girlfriend has always been against them, and she says, "We live in a neighborhood, etc." and I said, "OK, when someone comes to our neighborhood and goes into the house across the street where the old couple live because all hell has broken loose - should we just sit and watch?" She thinks we are safe because the people around us are good...hard to imagine people coming into our area because it has never happened.

As far as the flu statement - gonna be less harsh on that with you. A month ago, that would have been more widely accepted. Just go back through the other Covid-19/Gyms thread and look at how on page one we are all saying the flu is more dangerous (ok, a lot of people, not everyone) and how fast that has dwindled.

Yeah, I mean, I don't want to over react or anything and I wish I had done it sooner and been more prepared (i.e. - taken classes, etc.). I've had some demonstration, etc. and I've got friends who will show me, but I'm late and recognize that I need to be extra cautious because I haven't spent the proper time with it if I get one now (which is my hesitation for rushing out to get one).

But I am looking around and you can't even buy a chest freezer online or in any stores...

Glad I picked up a freezer last fall! Not a huge one, but big enough to keep my family fed for a while.

Yeah, I have been thinking of it for some time now, but didn't want to spend the $$. I have to go to Aldi's which is 30 minutes away every week and it isn't always convenient - if I could store a large amount of chicken and broccoli, etc. - I'd be able to reduce the trips...now I wish I had pulled the trigger sooner.

I can kung-fu 911 as fast as anyone.
Yeah. I've learned that I shouldn't rely on anyone else for my own safety and well-being. I'm not saying you shouldn't give those resources a chance, but SOMEBODY has to take care of my life and I know I'm not always in a position to help others...so other's aren't always in a position to help me.

When my dad had his stroke and was in a nursing home, my mom was there with one of her friends and my mom was complaining about how poor the care was there and how it took so long for my dad to get any help. And I was thinking, they have one nurse taking care of 10 people who, most of them, can't even get out of a bed on their own. Of course it takes a lot of time. I know it would take me a long time and I would probably lose my sh1t over it after a while.

I said to my mom and her friend, "That is why you never want to put yourself in a position where you have to rely on others for your own well being." and they both looked at me like the concept was totally crazy. It just shows how irresponsible we have become as a society - it is always someone else's job to take care of a problem.

I'm not saying that you go into a situation guns blazing. Getting my LTC taught me a lot about how wrong people are with that mindset. I used to get really upset in traffic or minor situations and my fuse was much shorter before I got my LTC. Once I had that, I realized I have something to lose and things can escalate quickly. If I had a gun on me, I'd be even more aware of that. I'm not saying I'm infallible or that every other person will have that same mindset - but like everything else, I'm probably better than some at this and worse than others (I guarantee I am worse than some others).

But, I'm gonna look out for people around me, including my neighbors, and if something happens - sure 911 will be called quickly and I will proceed with caution, but I want to be ready too. And honestly, if someone wants to steal something - have at it. It's not worth shooting anyone over that. It will cost me more to defend that action than to just buy my neighbor whatever. But when people are in danger (which is rare up to this point)...sometimes seconds matter.

I'm also not saying an untrained person with a gun is a great situation either :) 9-1-1 is probably the better solution MUCH of the time.

It's certainly not the safest of treatments out there especially for long term use but I get why they are doing it. I would compare it to writing antibiotics while pharmacies have it in stock before everyone is sold out or the prices go up. No one should be taking it as a preventative.

That I would disagree on a few treatments don't appear to have any serious side effects for short term use like the hiv combo and the chinese drug I posted earlier. Already years of studies on them. The latter seems more effective as a preventative unless used in combo with other drugs at least according to this study. http://www.chinaxiv.org/abs/202002.00065

As far as vaccines yeah I'd wait on something well studied.

Any officially approved drug for covid-19 will takes months if not years so if you do get sick I'm curious do you plan to refuse the offlabel drugs the doctors give you if they have any in stock or just see how your immune system handles it?

I've been practicing with paintballs. Indoor life is going to be more elaborate as time goes on. Only 4-12 weeks for Amazon to ship out my indoor shooting range setup, UV lights, and UV paint.

Treatments don't have any serious sides? Are these newly created? Because that's what I was talking about. If a vaccine or treatment is new for this virus, then there are no long term studies on it, meaning no1 knows if it's going to give you cancer or some other health complications 5, 10, 15 years down the road. Do you wanna take a medication that they only have 1 year or less safety data on? Not too smart in my book. Il pass

Dude just stop. If you aren't going to actually research and understand what you are looking at then don't bother.

Because ppl are too stupid to realize that the coronavirus has been around since the 1960s
Exactly, this isn't some conspiracy, this is a new strain, so again if you aren't going to properly vet what you or reading or don't fully understand (which is why I let the experts explain) then don't go spreading misinformation and passing it off like you are catching something so many people just obviously missed.

Idk bout that, my girl has had zero interest in sex since all this happened. She's tired from sitting around the house all day and wants to go to bed hours earlier than normal. My buddy said the same about his wife. On the flip side of spouces, all the bars and places ppl go to have fun are closed so that's probably cutting down massively on 1 night stands and hook ups. No1 is out meeting new people.

Then there's Lots of people are stressed about money and life, I'm sure that has a negative effect on sex as well.

I think the opposite will happen. Less babies + more deaths from the virus=population control, now there's your God damn conspiracy theory!
