SALT LAKE CITY — Bodybuilder Shawn Rhoden is accused of raping a woman in a Sandy hotel room.
Rhoden, 44, was charged Thursday with rape and object rape, both first degree felonies, and forcible sexual abuse, a second degree felony.
The woman, a female competitive bodybuilder who described Rhoden as a mentor, went to visit Rhoden at his hotel on Oct. 12, 2018, while he was visiting Utah from California, according to the charging documents.
Comment on this story The woman told police that Rhoden forced himself on her and sexually assaulted her, despite her trying to push him away and telling him repeatedly to stop, the charges state. She said Rhoden stopped and let her leave when she told him she needed to go downstairs or else an acquaintance waiting in the lobby would know "something (was) up," according to the charges.
A DNA sample found on the woman's body was matched to Rhoden, police said.
A warrant for his arrest was issued Thursday.
Rhoden — nicknamed Shawn "Flexatron" Rhoden — currently holds the title of Mr. Olympia, awarded annually in an international bodybuilding competition hosted by the International Federation of BodyBuilding and Fitness.

You have to admit the timing of this rape accusation is a bit strange and sounds like a setup. It’s just less than 12 weeks from Olympia.

That being said, can’t believe someone like Rhoden would do something like this; A man who talks about family and love.

The article title says rape, yet contents of article says sexual assault. Hmm.. wonder if something is "up". You can get DNA on your body from a hug. Hair. Skin. DNA.

The evidence that has leaked out thus far doesn't sound too good.

I think he is screwed. Banned from all future Mr olympias and had to pay $750000 bail, that's his money gone too. No word of a denial from him. If he did it then he's a grade a twat. If not, this is the stuff suicides are made of.

All it takes is an allegation.

Welcome to today - toxic men.

Facts don't matter - only feelings do.
Let me add to this - if he did this, he should incur whatever wrath and legal implications he caused.

My original comment sounded jaded - because I believe in many cases an allegation is enough to cause irreparable damage. It seems that many are no longer concerned with first having the facts determine if a person is guilty - with these types of sexual allegations people have swung to a guilty unless/until proven innocent model.

Not only is that wrong, it is scary - it can be very difficult to prove that you did not do something. That is why the burden is to prove the accused person actually did what he/she have been charged with.

But if he did, he deserves whatever he gets, and she deserves to heal emotionally.

Fully agree, if he did it he deserves prison time no doubt, but why are suspects named when the system knows very well the irreparable damage done to a falsely accused person
