Do you guys track it?

I had a meal the other night.. Just to use up some left over parts in the fridge instead of waste. Haggis ' Black Pudding & some bacon medallions i cooked up. I tally'd up the salt intake of it and it was over 5 grams just on that plate? Still knocked it back though but do you guys ever worry and keep sodium to a minimum?

I hear a ton of conflicting comments of people who are very strict with sodium... Some say not to worry about the intake and some say restrict it to around 2000mg per day.

Me personally i do follow salt intake but i do allow a fair amount due to my water intake. 5+ litre a day. My blood pressure never seems to be an issue as i get alot of cardio in and just an active person in general.

They say your body regulates sodium very well and if you maintain a rough intake of say 6 grams a day our bodys become use to this and utilise what we intake?

So if your blood pressure is fine... Your not competing etc is sodium ever gonna be a problem? I even watched a video of how sodium can be benificial aswell for strength and reduce cramping etc

Whats everyone's opinions on it?
Whats your daily intake or around abouts?

Thanks

Personally I’m in line with you bro. I season my food a lot but have zero concerns over sodium intake. Unless you have an underlying condition my understanding was that even an high intake wouldn’t be an issue for a healthy adult.

Also worth noting that for anyone who doesn’t eat much/any processed food their sodium intake is often going to be much lower than people who do (eat processed/convenience) foods anyway, even with liberal seasoning......

Hi Buddy. You well?

Im the same. The processed foods are a killer for sodium. I bought the Eatlean Protein cheese and 100g (Which isn't that much btw) is 2g of salt. Just the cheese alone. I had some pasta yesterday with a sauce + 100grams of cheese. over 3 grams of sodium in that meal alone. I drink i would say 5-6+ litre of water a day so i reckon i need the added sodium. If i was using the daily recommendation of 2-3 Grams i would flush out all that salt and end up with issues i reckon? I have a blood Pressure reader at home and it always seems to be quite stable. The only time i notice Salt problems is those all you can eat chinese places. Worst drought you can have lol Thats when i see what salt does in too high amounts.

Whats new with yourself?

Chinese and Indian convenience foods are crazy for the amount of added salt. Half the time it’s because the pull the fat out to get the calories down to claim healthy so they add salt to sort the taste.

I’m all good bro. Currently enjoying a trest/epistane cycle. Stacking on weight like nothing (20lbs in 5 weeks) and increasing strength daily. Looking forward to finishing this run strong and then planning to cut to single figure bf for the summer (I’ve got to 10.4% before but had no where near as much lean mass so just looked scrawny lol).

Thats an insane weight gain.. Nice one! Almost more than what a test cycle would give? It must have transformed your physique? Whats the fat gain been like?

Whats your current calories etc to fuel that growth? My weights stuck just now i have put the car off the road and using my bike to go everywhere. Everything is local to me ie work ' family etc so just killing my finances running the car. Bit of a nightmare trying to lean bulk though and work out calories. I got a 21 mile cycle in yesterday and also threw in 7 sets of squats and 5 leg extensions (That was my leg day.. Very basic) .. Was easter so i destroyed an easter egg lastnight on top of my usual food lol 2000 calories in them things and its like eating nothing.

Whats your intake.. Macros etc. You bumped the protein to try get as much gains as you can? Seems to be working by the sounds of it!

There’s a lot of water retention (pretty standard with trest) in that so I’m under no illusions that lots will go in pct (I’m hoping to run my first proper test cycle later in the year, more maintainable gains). it makes it really bad to judge fat gain though.....I’m much less defined then when I started but I’m eating and training exactly the same way as last year when a 1/4/epiandro cycle made me leaner.....so in theory when the water comes off I should look leaner than when I started but I won’t know until then - just trusting the process.

I’m eating 4,000 Cals a day with a min 350g protein. Fairly even split between carbs and fats for the rest. Its all clean really, no Easter eggs etc but that’s just standard for me anyway rather than any major effort.

I feel you on the activity levels, I run 7.5km 5-6 days a week with my dog (she has to go out so it’s run for 40 mins or walk for 90, I don’t have the time to walk lol). Off cycle that basically hammers any gains (although I did find cardarine seemed to help between cycles last time). This time around I’m going to focus on cutting between cycles and use clen to minimise lean mass loss (always been a problem for me when cutting).....

PCT when the scales drop like a rock every morning lol Hate that.. Makes you paranoid but sometimes when the water does flush you look good.

My Girl bought me not 1 but 2 MASSIVE easter eggs. She doesn't understand my fitness or diet etc she doesn't workout. Ive had rants on here about it lol the plan is too incorporate them into my macros over the period of a week just so she doesn't crack up. Thats them out the road after then. I have mentioned plenty of times just to save £££ and we could just go for a meal but thats not *Traditional*

You never thought about a Test Cycle? Less water ' Better gains usually. But.... Its the future and how your body recovers etc and also. Jabbin

Haha, yeah test is definitely best. I’ve never been under an illusions with that. Pinning is something I need to get my head around but looks like a mate will jab me for my next cycle so I should get to see the difference later this year.

To be honest I hope the scales do drop in pct, there’s no physical way all the weight can be lean mass so if they don’t go down it means some is fat and not water. Not looking lean is taking every ounce of discipline I have to stay the course and not just cut Cals - I know in theory it should work but I guess none of this is an exact science.

Fair play with the eggs mate, not worth falling out with the missus over. People around me think I have an issue with anyone eating chocolate and stuff as I never do but I genuinely don’t, I think most people can fit it in easily to a great diet, my personal reason is simply my addictive nature and eating chocolate in moderation is way way harder than just not having it at all. I know myself well enough to know that for me, focusing on enjoying the clean foods I eat is far better than teasing myself with small amounts of ‘less clean’ foods. It’s the same reason I don’t drink alcohol.

My missus is into fitness but I got her a small chocolate gift and she’ll eat a bit of sh1te every now and again with no drama.

I know from your other posts your in cracking shape anyway bro so you obviously manage it ok lol

Some will be a little fat but.. Some people are afriad to stick some fat on.. Alot of the so called fitness youtuber's seem to bulk for 4 weeks.. Panic and start a mini cut.. Whats gonna happen in 4 weeks? Zilch unless your on gear. Thier selling bulking diets aswell but cant bulk proper themself lol I dont mind gaining a little fat.. It happens. If your disciplined then cutting should be quick and easy. I honestly only ever cut for 2-3 weeks at a time.. Then bulk again. I feel dreadful running on lower calories. I work a hard job also and need that fuel also.

Just keep your training intensity up in PCT and keep the fuel coming in and you should hopefully retain as much as you can

Aye the girls always in the rant lol zero clue about it all but it doesn't stop me. I keep charging on..

4000 calories.. A wish a could get away with that lol Last year i bulked on 3000-3200 and my weight did increase over the 12 weeks. Did add some fat aswell. This year i started on 3000 and after 10 days.. Lost a pound so i have bumped it to 3200.. Im more active now so my mainteance must have increased.. If i go a cycle on the bike i add 500-700 calories on top of that (I take the same route each time and do i in the same time etc 21 mile) thats what i do on days im gonna be eating out or on easter thier.. Just lets me enjoy more food and also keeps the cardio system ticking over.

As for pinning.. A use to do it for a mate a few year back.. Then he eventually just started himself now it doesn't bother him at all.. Its the initial start though. Thats if you ever do want to go down that route. Thier pro's and con's just like any sort of hormone based *extra* you will know all this though with running pro hormones etc

You on a set training split at the moment? Ive just been doing the classic Chest Tri.. Back Bi's and legs and leave 3-4 days rest inbetween.. Seems to be working well

I’m using a PHAT basis (3 days hyperthrophy, 2 days strength) modified to increase volume to take advantage of being on cycle. Worked well last cycle and seems to be this one but was thinking I’ll probably change it up after this run.

Main problem is every session is intense as hell, which is great but hard to maintain. As I don’t consider myself an advanced lifter I’ve been using basic progressive overload, but feel like I’m probably getting to the stage where periodisation and introducing some more advanced techniques will start to be needed. Especially if I pin and run longer cycles (body can’t handle running 7.5km of a morning and pushing more weight of an afternoon as often lol.
