Asteroid Stack Mega Prime dosing

My first few workouts of an HST cycle always end up with me pale and dizzy. Coming off a layoff and hitting is that hard is brutal. I just started an 8 week cycle of Myo-reps (HST/DC hybrid) and I'm still feeling a bit off an hour after training. Of course I did it fasted, so it makes it a little tougher. Oh, and I'm not on Prime this cycle, so that kind of sucks too. I did just come off 14 straight weeks on it though, so I needed a break.

Dizzy yes I had to lay down, after my vertigo was acting up. I was thinking the BCAA's are doing something to me. Attacts of vertigo can be pretty scary ... mega loss of focus dizziness headaches and nausea....

It's great isn't it! :knockedout:

Thankfully it stops after the first one or two sessions for me.

You aren't feeling any congestion are you DW? Just curious if you may have 2 things going on there. Possibly inner ear congestion along with the extra effort anfd work the workout requires. Reason I ask is my wife gets vertigo when we are pushing hard when she is congested. She gets attacks at other times but the hard workout mixed with congestion seems to trigger it for her.

Is this a workout you came up with or can you post a link to look it up? Sounds interesting.

Yes definitely a factor, always kind of congested (allergies etc...) I was particularly congested that morning yes. Another factor I just discovered I had been putting spoiled milk in my oatmeal, that will help with the nausea... :knockedout:

It's a method designed by Blade. He is an old school member of the Original HST board, very smart dude. There are a few places you can read about it if you google Myo reps, there are a few links to Lyle McDonald's board. That's where I found a link to a translated (he's Norwegian) article.

Invalid Link Removed

It uses HST progression, and rest pause reps. You do one "activation" set to the prescribed number of reps, rest 10 seconds, do 2-4 reps, repeat this until you hit the prescribed number of reps. The volume stays pretty consistent throughout the 8 weeks going from 30 ish total reps to 24 during the heaviest weeks. There is more to it, but that's the gist of it. I just finished 8 weeks of it using the Asteroid stack and put on 5lbs and maintained my BF levels. Most of my gains came during the heavy weeks, but that was how HST worked for me too.

After 9 days off, I just started a new cycle sans Prime :( Hopefully I can continue adding muscle.

Thanks, yeah I am sure you will maybe not as much as you would with the PRIME but gains nonetheless. Gotta love the fact PRIME doesn't shut anything down.

Day 5 out of 6 on 15 reps in the books... It was fuggin brutal

I only missed 1 rep on db incline press and one on push press due to sheer exhaustion both were on the second set... The pace was grueling ..a few dizzy spells nothing like Sunday though and the pace was quite a bit faster.

I said I noticed myself getting leaner and tighter, well I have also noticed some size increase. So it was no surprise whatsoever that the weigh in had me back up over 230 to 231.25 which is 2.25 lbs up from last week. I am just getting started and already seeing changes, I'm pretty pumped. I just hope the changes continue at this rate.

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth. Yup, I did....

Awesome, you are REALLY gonna love the 10's, you still get the sick pump but the added weight will feel so good. Especially by the 3rd workout. You are making killer progress already, Soon the megadosing with mega weight = a big HELLZ YEAH!

Man.. I can't wait for those two worlds to collide!! Yah everything seems really to be falling into place with this one. I was looking for something to stack with Prime to give it a boost and now I've finally found it ... More Prime!!

How do you think I felt when I poured the milk in the sink and it resembled cottage cheese. :sorry:

Yeah I have had that wonderful experience too, had me smelling my milk before I used it for weeks. Didn't care what the date said, I was doing a smell check.

Well the date said October 12th and I think it must of have started going off at least 3 or 4 days ahead of that so yah .. good plan...

Just the cardio yesterday... my legs have really nice ache going on.. More stretching.

I was just looking at the calander and it's only 11 weeks to my break not 12 ... ssssooo I will have to get a little more agressive with the dosing ..!!

Weeks 1-2 5/5 with 3 600 mg on wd
3-4 7/7 with 3 600 mg on wd
5-6 9/11
7-8 10/13
9-11 10/15

What I have not decided is what I am going to do after 6 weeks of HST... I could do an extra week of 5 reps then do something else for 4 weeks. I could start back at 15 reps with different exercises and only do 5 week of HST. Opinions are welcome.... lookng for some good ideas.

I just completed my 6 weeks of HST and have started over at week 3 so 10 reps each day again. I like this because my joints needed a bit of a break from the massive weights Prime had me putting up. I should be able to make it to the end with my Prime but will have to drop the dosage down a little to make 10 weeks. You on the other hand DW seem to have a plethora to work with, balls to the wall guy, add in another heavy week for three total and then do four more weeks like I am. Those more learned may have a better plan but I like this and am sticking to it.

Yah throw the extra week in then I have option of starting back at 10 or 15 depending on how I feel... I like it!!

Good to hear DW. I made my mass gains in the last 4 weeks hence why I am staying on that part of the HST program as I repeat it again. Also, I am able to push more weight this time around now that Prime has kicked in full steam so that keeps it interesting and continues to be a challenge.

You can actually repeat the 5's until you are not able to progress any further in weight. Another option would be to add some DC style training, or I can send you phase one of my workout if you want to give it a go. I know GoHard is really enjoying it. With HST A lot of people do negatives for 2 weeks after the 5's but that requires a partner. I think I would stick with a full body throughout the stack.

If you want to increase the volume a little on some of the major lifts I can send you phase two of my program which is a hybrid of a full body workout and a 5x5 style workout. For one main lift to be done first you do the 5x5 set and rep scheme, and that is followed a full body giant set with drop sets added in for intensity. Holler at me if you want to review them and I will shoot them your way. With the doses of PRIME you will be taking in around that time it should be a kick ass time for such an intense program, and will still continue to strip fat off of you. As soon as my tendon heals a bit more I am going to hit this one but start with 15x5 and 10 rep weight to start for the gian sets initial set. I have it all written up and detailed.

Where as my focus will be on recomp I make just go back to two weeks of 15 and 2 weeks of 10 for the extra conditioning. I will have an extra week with the 5's to push that envelope. This is shaping up... like everything else in this thread.

Good deal. You are going to enjoy it. Are you going to start your 15s with your first weight for your initial round of 10 reps or do you know. You won't have the benefit of SD so you will need to start your 15s heavier maybe like there or the weight you did for the 5th 15 rep workout.

I was thinking of using different exercises and following the same style for 15 for 2 weeks then 10 for 2 weeks.

I'll admit .. I was pretty aprehensive about last nights workout. My legs were aching and Tuesday was rough. Everything worked out fairly well though. I actually think I did a better job on the front squats. I missed 2 reps on the second incline db press but those were the only reps I missed all night. I did have to cheat up the last couple reps on curls, but man were my biceps peaking. I went up an additional 5 lbs on the lat pulldowns and on the calf raise.

So on to 10's on Sunday Prime dosage is up to 7 ed and 3 600 mg on workout days for the next 2 weeks.

I get a much needed rest today.

DW i'm in!

Holy crap why did it take me so long to read through this!

I was thinking that when you finish up your cycle of HST, you could continue on with the HST style but add in rest pauses on friday (or whichever is the last workout of the week)

your body plus prime will respond to the added stress.
but instead of 2 exercises per body part, just do 1 with r/p

What do you mean my rest pause exactly I have done some things like that I believe. Like 5 reps rest 15 seconds 5 reps rest 15 seconds 5 reps...

Do explain Carpee, heard a lot of rest pause talk and am in the dark a bit on the philosophy. Let's keep the knowledge exchange going, DW has a great one started, no reason to stop.

on fridays, as about 25 minutes ago, i do:

flat bench:
warm up
8 reps, 12 breaths, 4 reps, 12 breaths, 2 reps.
the breathing is slowed down and controlled so it probably is about 10-15 seconds.
I love it because its an opportunity to keep the weight heavy, but pump out more reps.

it does take some tweaking to figure out which weight to use, but you are experienced and will figure that out fast.

I also stretch more after. But i still do full body, with 1 exercise per body part on fridays, as opposed to 2. warm up weight should be about 60% with high reps just to loosen up. I did 120 for a warm up with seated cable rows, and then my working rest pause set was 210 in the fashion above.
i do this on fridays because i have 2 days off until the next workout as opposed to 1 off on mondays and wednesday

Ok very similar to my workout except instead of reducing weight you reduce sets. Yah that could work.

i don't reduce the weight in the rest pause.

I do the strop / drop sets myself but am going to incorporate some rest pauses when my tendons heal up a bit. Both are very effective at recruiting deeper fibers into the work. Keep on killing it DW. Your logs are always great to follow.

ever heard of cluster-hst?people usually start with about 60% of 1rm and do 30 total reps.these are usually split up in 6 clusters of 5 reps.then you can either continously increase the volume(meaning you would do 6x5 for a few workouts, then increase weight and do, say, 8x4 and so on) or you can do something like increasing to 10x5, then increase weight and drop back to 6x5.the further the weight increases the lower you can go with the reps per cluster.some people go as far as doing 50 singles, but for me i prefer not to go lower than 3 reps.negative can be effectively used this way too, and for exercises like dips and chin ups you wont need a spotter either.

hm, i think i explained this badly :-)

First day of 10's in the book, I'll admit it was a relief to get away from those 15's .. almost barfed up a lung those last 2 workouts.

Everything went very well, hey not only am I shaping up fast on this but the girls are showing marked improvement. I'm pretty damn proud of them, they never complain the just press forward. Don't try and tell me women aren't tough.

Feeling good on my new dosage.. I am noticing a lot more euphoria this time round.

Oh and I was checking the 2010 schedule ... seems they've moved the worlds to November but doesn't say where yet. I am thinking of doing the Easterns on May 08 then I can worry about the worlds later. Means I have to start my diet right after Xmas and only gives me 18 weeks but I will be about a month ahead of schedule anyway.

Damn, mega dosing the prime, training like a monster and eatin the cottage milk, your a friggin animal man!

Glad to hear the 10s are a littlbe bit of a break. Just wait til you get up in weight. WooHoo, Yeah the girls are tougher than we are. LOL My wife is a friggin machine. She reminds me of me before I became aware I was not indestructable.

Oh I know the 10's are going to get tough real fast but maybe my lungs won't feel like they're going to explode, it's a different kind of tough. This is more the kind of strain I am accustomed to. I don't do well with higher reps, that's why I have to make sure I do them. Weakest link and all.

Just cardio 30 min. HITT followed by 15 moderate. I had company last night so I was up till midnight and only slept about 4 hours as I woke up early. This is really going to fug up my training. I'll get through it and with some ferocity but I'm gonna feel like shyte.

Oh forgot to mention ... libido is out of control. Cel's Formestane is crazy, and I seem to be getting more of a boost from Prime that I didn't before in that department. I would actually prefer it was a little more suppressed than it currently is as it's very intrusive.

hahahaa, damn inconvenient woods.. :twak:
everything's looking good DW.
interesting talk on the whole rest/pause formats in here. ironic, too, that I have been experimenting with somewhat similar format, kinda tweaking it to my own liking, but resembles HST w/ rest/pause, Yates' philosophy of 1-2 sets to absolute failure, and extreme stretching like DC as well as rotated exercises each workout..this brings together everything I like, and I'm making some good progress!

Good to hear, I am likely going to incorporate this somewhere in the last 4 weeks. Maybe like someone suggested one day a week. I have to see how the rest of this pans out and where I am at when I get to that point. Conditioning is usually the best place for me to focus. So yah higher reps will have to be involved to what degree I'll have to wait and see.

Isn't it interesting we all seem to have individually migrated to similiar styles, I do need to read up on the directions for the DC stretches , I havent had the oppurtunity to read up on them yet. However I love the 1-2 sets to failure type of work. Reading this makes me want to jump on my Asteroid Stack but I have about another month before I do and go ball to the walls on it for 2 months straight. I will be megadosing those 2 months, just hitting it hard. Right now just testing out some new Testosterone increasing products as a bridge. Having good success so far so we will see how big I am by the end of the year with a final Asteroid Stack blitz.

Yah think were feeding off eachother somewhat, that's what it's all about, that's why I'm hear .. still have lots to learn, and I likes to plan I do...

Yah I have looked at DC style and the most intriging thing is the stretching. Funny I was so set on doing things my way for so long and have really ventured out lately. I have you and Snag to thank for that...

By the way Chris saw you on the front of that pamphlet Jacob put out... It really shows the incredible transfomation you underwent. Like freakin magic almost...

Thanks! Yeah, I love those shots. Now they are everywhere and I see them and think. Dayum I looked good! Now I need to go diet. LOL I was 5.25% in those shots at 181. I think I would be about 185-187 now in the same shape. The before pics really help keep me out of the traditional "bulking" mindset.

Snags is top notch. He helped me not go to crazy on my cuts for the show. Was very encouraging.

We really do have a great group of regulars here that frequent the logs.

You two need to think about it from my perspective... in the last year I feel like I learned more than I could in ten years had I not found the USP Forum and you guys here on AM. Definitely encouraging to see everyone battling through lifes struggles together, keeps me from coming home at night and parking it on the couch when I know I will be vastly happier once I am done with my nightly workout!

Were glad to help, I too will never stop learning new things. The more I learn the more capacity I have to learn more. Not only am I benefiting but you should see the progress my girls are making.

Well I did not get much sleep the night before so instead of dragging my ass to the gym I took 2 heaping scoops of Jacked and strutted...

I completely crushed the workout .. some exercises seemed so easy.. Prime's kickin in bigtime. Front squats continue to be a challenge due to frequency more than anything else.

After the workout I was completely tanked. Out of gas. I slept better last night but still woke up to early.

Forgot to mention I weighed in and to my surprise I was down almost 2 lbs to 229.5 from 231.25. I look bigger so I was expecting an increase. I do look leaner also, could just be that last weeks weigh in was high.
