Yes, that's once the choke is "locked up."
How often is a RNC instantly "on" especially in a street fight?
If you already have the guy's back, why bother with the RNC? Get up and leave.
If you want to hurt him, slam his face into the ground or get up and kick him.
Also, say you have the choke on...the guy could grab your nuts and squeeze, reach behind and go for your eyes, stab you, etc...
I wouldn't waste time with subs unless it was some drunk guy, otherwise you might get killed going for one.

In a fight "for me at least", adrenaline is flowing so hard that he could grab my nuts and I would laugh at him. I was in a fight where I hit a guy and broke his orbital bone then his buddy came out of nowhere and blind sided me in the temple, I immediately imobalized him with a head lock and he then started punching me in the nuts and I couldn't feel it. The only reason I knew what he was doing is because i saw it, this in turn pissed me off and I chocked the ever lovin sh*t out of him hahaha.

I usually talk them out of the fight...I hated fighting when I was younger, especially in my early 20's.

I remember when this one fight broke out and 3 dude's were about to jump me at a club(well, they acted like one guy was going to fight but i KNEW his buddies were going to jump in). The guy turned his head for one second and I ko'd his ass with a bar stool ... after that, the other two just started grabbing him asking if he was ok...freaking blood everywhere, I was sh!t scared ...

After that incident, i never fought again, and probably would never unless it involved my children or wife....

Also, where I grew up, there was RARELY any chance of a fist-a-cuff one on one, it was usually 4 on 1 or 2 or 2 on 1 or 2, but NEVERRRRRR one on one ...

Its that way most everywhere, because when several chicken sh*ts get together they want to go fight someone with fewer numbers so that they can feel tough. I guess its part of human nature, but I can honestly say that I have never jumped anyone in which I out numbered. I've been on the out numbered side a few times but came out alright. I honestly don't like to fight either unless I have to, but when thats the case I get pretty involved so to speak.

if it was 1on1, which is very rare, id be happy punchin on standing up and only takeing to the ground if one got landed on me n i was bit rocked or if we get in close in a clinch... but than again alot of ppl like to tackle ya to the ground... than if it went to ground and if i ended up on top than id work my way onto mount for sure but than would only look at punchin their face in... but if i ended up on me back i would probs sweep or simply just put on a triangle and elbow them in the face abit so they bring there arm up/across, than slip it across and choke em out... but if it was a typical fight in club or outside walking a round, its normally with groups and would just try and stay up as alot easier to get stomped on or kicked in the head while on the ground by other ppl!!

Yeah, the whole going to the ground thing doesn't work out too well when there are buddies around! I don't like to fight, and will usually walk away from someone trying to start some stupid ****. But if pushed, I am going to act! Unfortunately, my last fight was about 3 months ago, and it was a bar fight. I ended up outside w/3 guys, and arguing with them. One of them suker punched me while we were arguing, and I struck back. As they rushed me, I made it hell for them to take medown, and put a RNC on one of them and went to the ground. I was not going to let go, but the kicks and punches started raining down! I let go and tried to roll over on my stomach, to gaurd and also get up. Well on my way up, I caught a nice kick to the gut that put me down pretty damn good! I ended up blacking out(liqour probably made this easier, lol), and quickly got up brushed my self off, and tired to go after the P**sies again. Worst part of it all, one of them ended up being a US Marshall, and played his card once the cops got there, and I ended up spending a night locked up, $5,000 bail, and a trial! The effing Marshall even went head up with one of my buddies after they got outside, and never indentified himself until he was getting his butt kicked!! BIG TIME BS!! But anywho, thats what can happen when a fight goes to the ground, if there are more buddies around, LOL!:duel:

One of many reasons I will avoid a fight when there's alcohol involved. It isn't high school anymore and it just isn't worth the damage that can be done to you and that doesn't include the immediate physical damage.

Absolutely true J!! Unfortunately, one of those fools sucker punched me, and I just couldn't walk away from that one. Alcohol, stupidity, and pride are not the best mix.

Being sucker punched would probably cause me to pull out all the stops but fortunately I haven't encountered any dicks like this, when out and drinking.

I couldn't agree with you more...... I have been training bjj for 4 years now and presently teach it part time, and although I will almost always walk away, its not easy..... especially when someone is really pushing your buttons. I was at a bar not long ago, and wearing a Gracie t-shirt when some drunk approaches me and asks me if I train. When I tell him yes, he immediately asks me to fight him outside b/c he wants to test himself against me, as he tells me he was a D-1 wrestler and wants to see how he would do. I thought it was a joke, but he persisted..... I work as a budweiser rep and was working at the time, so I would have absolutely lost my job had I fought him. I told him that if he was that serious I would meet him somewhere when i wasnt working, and he tells me that he would never do it when he was sober. It was a lot easier to walk away after that, but I still had to bite my tongue. I will never understand some people though..... In response to the original question, I wouldn't hesitate to use my jits, especially chokes- (guillotine, head and arm, triangle), but it can all be useful as you never know where you will find yourself in a streetfight......
just my two cents.

Jayhawkk you make some great points on the reality of being an adult and fighting. Me I just run screaming like a school and usually I can out run them or they can't run because they are laughing too hard!!!

I seriously haven't been in a "street fight" in years and hope like hell I don't have to get into one, medical bills and lawsuits are extremely expensive even if you do "win" the fight. I save my fighting for the ring and the gym.

The Elwoppo video was really funny I like his approach to self defense.

in a heart beat...if people attack you and dont know what the hell they are doing they are probably going to go to sleep...

Honestly as much as I train striking occurs naturally to me.

I don't think in a fight my reaction would be to go against my training. I'd prolly kick some poor sap square in the chin :|
