Speed, I've asked this question before as well. -Dead silence, no respone, perhaps because the effects aren't well known (yet). So consequently, I had to experiment myself. WM is a complex carb, but it absorbes about twice as fast as dextrose without the insulin spike. So my guess is go ahead and take the AP 15 minutes before your large WM & CEE mix (or whatever custom blend you like) and then follow up with your after training meal as usual. The body is supposedly reacting to a complex carb despite it's speed of absorption. I've been doing this with no ill effects (that I know of!) or increased hypo feeling. If someone learns more about WM and AP, hopefully they will chime in also.

Sorry about the non-response, I didn't see the question before. Waxy Maize Starch is technically a complex carbohydrate, but only in the most formal sense in terms of structure. It is really, IMO, just a marketed sugar. How it behaves in the body does not mirror something such as a long grain rice, or whole grains, in terms of absorption and effects on Insulin. Besides the one study done by the original manufacturer, there is not very much evidence to support otherwise. With that being said however, go with it if it works for you. All the data and study's in the world can only hypothesize, and if it is working for you in a practical sense than keep given 'er, so to speak. However, I personally would never pay for sugar, or eat sugar after a workout, but that is just me.

| Registered User | Mullet Soldier, i'm too am not a sugar fan and would like to read more on your views regarding why not to taking it post work out when most advise consuming 50-100g simple sugars with protein post w/o for the insulin and recovery benifits. |

Oi. This has been a pretty heated debate and has been discussed ad naseum throughout the boards. However, to sum up, I just feel that the exact same effects in terms of insulin and recovery can be made with a nutritionally sound choice such as Oats or a Whole Grain Bagel, without the risk of adipose storage. Here is a thread with my summized thoughts on GI awhile back What is 'GI' and a List of Common Foods

Will the new version prove to be stronger? If you feel that the change makes a significant difference, I will order up a couple bottles and give it another try. Let me know what you think. |

YG has been improved upon to get AP. Check the synergy muscle forum for the write up. USP has posted a word doc. HL

Agreed. Did shrugs today and can honestly say this was the first time I've ever experienced neck pumps. IT HURTS SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD! I've been trying AP with everything from oats and brown rice to mega mass 4000. This stuff is the real deal. I'm getting stretch marks on my arms and I haven't done arms yet! Thanks a lot USPLabs for making another product that works and ruining my faith in crap-tech bs supplement companies. Jerks. ![]()

Anecdotally from the IM boards and TP gang, but I don't know if they have now changed their opinion on that. It was almost a year ago when that was stated.

| Registered User | Hmm, I may have jumbled the insulin response with the osmolality rate. I retract my previous statement. From TP website: Quote:

The problem with products like this which hype the gastric uptake phase is they never provide any concrete evidence beyond that phase. It is going to be absorbed faster, of course that is a given, however the question more pertinent to us isL Where is it going after? Simply because it is absorbed in the stomach at a ridiculous rate does not mean it is permeating the cell any faster, or at an increased rate for that matter.

I agree also, oats are the way to go. Not to mention dirt cheap compared to WMS.

LOL. That argument has just always bothered me. Pundints of WMS, Malto., Dextro., and so on have always hyped the rate of gastric uptake, and have even gone so far as to provide blood glucose strips to testers. Well....So?? Show me a product that has both increased absorption and cell permeation rates without the risk of VAT/SAT storage I'll be all over it. Till' then, Mullet likes his oats/whole grain bagels.
