Martins Licis out of the World’s Strongest Man?
2020 has been filled with many unfortunate surprises. The global health crisis has rocked the world leading to countless deaths and the damaging of the world economy. It has certainly been a very tough time for any activity involving social interaction. That includes sports and recreation.
So when many promoters announced that shows would be once again be moving forward the sporting community rejoiced. Bodybuilding competitions have now gone forward, the UFC and Bellator MMA have been throwing events, the NBA and MLB are back on track. It appears that things are returning to some semblance of normalcy (in certain regards).https://adserver.generationiron.com/www/delivery/afr.php?zoneid=13&cb=INSERT_RANDOM_NUMBER_HERE
So when the 2020 World’s Strongest Man was announced excitement in the strongman community soared. Obviously 2019 World’s Strongest Man champion Martins Licis would be defending his title right?
Well it appears that Martins Licis may be out of the 2020 World’s Strongest Man.
In a recent video, Martins Licis discusses prepping for the Arnold Strongman Classic 2021, but not the World’s Strongest Man. In the video he mentions at the end of the workout:
“GOOD LITTLE INTO ARNOLD TRAINING,” LICIS SAID.
“HEY, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WORLD’S STRONGEST MAN?” HIS CAMERAMAN ASKED.
“I’LL TALK ABOUT IT LATER,” HE RESPONDS.
It appears that Martins Licis is skipping the World’s Strongest Man. It could be due to a thumb injury he’s working through. Apparently we’ll get a more official statement from the champion at a later date. To see the full video click here.
