Both to critique and to learn from. It's also used by people to keep track of thier progress and making it public makes them more determined to keep up with it.

Yup, they putting it in there to show their progress of weight. Showing they went from a 225x1 bench to a end result of 345x4 shows progress
There's no set requirements. it's what you feel like placing in your log.
