Masonmarin's First Training Log, IF / DC style Bulk!!

Welcome everybody, this will be my first training log. This will be to help keep me on track and get some input from my fellow AM members. Bulk will start Monday the 24th. This last week was my birthday just turned 20 years old on the 14th, had a lot of cake, pizza, and beer this past week lol.. oh and lets not forget the ice cream. I will be cleaning up the diet / deloading this week I also went light in the gym last week as well.

I am not 100% sure on the exercises I will be using I am going to post the workouts here and they may change depending on how the exercise feels. I will also post starting weight / pics when I start this log next monday.

This week I am going to go through the exercises I chose for DC and probably just do 1-2 sets till failure and move on to get a feel for the exercise and weight I will be using. Going to start lighter and work my way up.

Chest - I am going to drop the standard barbell work, I have heard good things about dumbbells and honestly I have been flat benching for the last 14 months. I am thinking Flat DB press, Incline DB press, and Incline smith press. I don't need to do decline for chest growth right? What do you guys think? I could do Decline barbell presses instead?

Shoulders - Smith press to front, hammer strength shoulder press, DB shoulder press.

Tris - Wide Reverse grip smith bench, close grip smith bench, skullcrushers.

Back Width - Wide Grip pull ups, Hammer Strength Seated Lat Pulldown, Reverse grip lat pulldowns.

Back Thickness - Deadlifts, Reverse Grip Barbell Rows, Hammer Strength Rows.

Biceps - Straight Bar Barbbell Curl, EZ Bar wide grip curls, Dumbbell alternating curls.

Forearms - Hammer curls, Pinwheel Curls, Reverse Grip EZ bar Curls.

Calves - Standing Calf Raises, Seated Calf Raises, Leg Press Calf Extensions.

Hamstrings - Lying Leg Curls, Seated Leg Curls, Standing Leg Curls

Diet will probably start around 3000 calories on lift days 24-2500 rest days. Higher carbs on training days, lower carb higher fat on rest days. Can't wait to get this started!!

I just decided I won't be doing Incline Hammer Press for chest I will be doing Decline Barbell Press. 7 Days till bulk!! Also picked up some Allmax German Creapure Creatine today, going to be using this during my whole bulk, debating whether or not to just start loading it now.

Decline barbell press is legit bro! I also enjoy capping my workouts with hammer wide press. Holy sh1t does that have you feeling like hulk while leaving the gym!

Fersure man I hit declines a few days ago and loved the way they felt, so I think they will be good addition to DC xD.

Hahaha, guess he's saving the worst (most painful) for last.

Anyways, looks good. My only suggestion is that you might consider having one non-curl hamstring movement. This could be a GHR, a Russian knee curl (easier version of a GHR), stiff leg deadlift, or good morning. I didn't list RDL; RDL is good but I personally dont get anything from it.

Yeah I was thinking of doing RDL, but idk deadlifts fuggin hurt and I am using those for back, Don't rly wanna do them for hams too haha. My gym doesn't have anywhere to do glute ham raises so idk I think I might be stuck. Maybe I could try the good mornings, we'll see.

Just a thought since they hit the hamstrings in a different way from curls.

Good quad exercise selection. I did those exact same ones as well. Sadly every other hack machine I've used aside from my school's hasn't been as good; I miss the pain.

Same ones I have picked out for my blast starting in about a week.

Expect I don't have hack machine at my gym. I'll opt for smith front squats.

If natural, in my experience, doing full deads and stiff deads/RDL, I had to cut my blasts a little short bc they were killing me.

In fact, I found, for me, squats on b1 and deads on a3 (wednesdays) worked beautifully. Both are extremely taxing.

If you can kill RDL for hammys, they're a solid movement. All the ones suggested by toro are great!

Kid I played college ball with was like that. Just played baseball in high school and graduated at like 150lbs? Started really lifting and eating on a college program and found he had great genetics. His Senior year he played at lean 215! Now that baseball is over he's on a quest for his 212 pro card (long road) pissed me off because he had all our program lifting records, I was 2nd! (1st at our respective positions) but I got that sucka in squats, lol. My record was short lived, there was a pitcher that beat me out year after I graduated. He had RC surgery and red shirted so he literally only trained legs for 6 months

Well, now that my ramble is over i was getting to....Just got to figure out what works for you homie! Lol

Well here are my starting pics. Pics were took carb depleted after 2 days of low cal low carb with no pump, some of the pics are self taken, I suck at posing and I know I am small, but this is why I am here and I am here to kill it!!

I started lifting last July 2011, been going strong for 14 months. I started at 135lbs, bulked up to 176 and cut down to what I weighed in today my lowest all summer at 140 lbs depleted as balls. Here is the pics!

    This is me July 2011.

This is the heaviest pic I have of my self at around 168-170lbs and I peaked at 176-178

Here are my depleted/starting pics end of summer cut
