Haha dont mind the tat. Got it a decade ago when I was a young, dumb kid. Yeah quads should be pretty shredded. I hope the camera shows the veins. However, I wish they were as big as previous. I had 3" on each of those badboys when I did insane volume. They are 27.5 cold and they were 30 1/4 at their biggest. 3 months of strict dieting should yield some good results (fingers crossed anyways)

BW 245 this am- huge water cut from yesterday am. Feel very flat today, hence the weightloss. Food has been on target lately so I dont really need to post that for now. Similar to above posts. 8L of water for the past few days. Super thirsty all the time.

    Abs
Rope swings (like swinging a baseball bat- dont know the name)
    Equal reps on both sides
    30x15
    45x12
    60x9
    30x15

    Rope crunches
    90x25
    105x15,15

    Lyling leg raises
    x15,12,12

Planned to do sprints on the treadmill today and when I would run the treadmill would bog out, so I tried another, belt slipped, tried another...bogged down, other one would work. I tried 8 in total to spint at top speeds and none would allow it. Pissed me right off so I left.
    - no real pump today
    - energy levels are mediocre
    - shoulders tommorow.

    BW 245.5 this am.
Food is on track, carbs are trace from veggies. Ketostix showed a positive sign yesterday night which is pretty interesting. My carb up day was all Saturday so from Sunday am to Wednesday night is 4 full days (i use sticks often!) When I first started this diet I was in ketosis after 3 days and I was eating carbs regularily up to the starting point. So 5 days of no carbs, 1 day of carbs only then it took LONGER to get back into Ketosis. I guess the research about supramaximal storage of glycogen is certainly true. Workout today was fast paced, high volume and good. I even got a pump, had some vascularity and felt good!? I am going to lower my carbs from 1000 to 800 this carb day and really monitor how my body responds next week. See how I hold pumps, energy, glycogen storage, when ketosis kicks in etc. Lots to learn for me.

Finished in a very fast pace. Workout went well and I had a good sense of well being leaving today. Last week on the keto diet I DID NOT have this feeling. haha. Tommorow is legs day. Lots and lots of leg press.

Really the ketostix should never show more than trace. The whole point behind the ketostix is that it is measuring excess ketones you are urinating out rather than burning. But if you are below maintenance calories, then you should be burning almost all of them. If you had a high reading on the ketostix it would mean that you were probably way over real maintenance calories too

I am juuuuust showing a trace at best. The minimum trace is a light purple, negative is brown. I am inbetween. As for calories I am eating around 21-2500 calories per day. I am active and 250 pounds so this should be well below my maintenance calories. You seem pretty knowledable though so if you have any tips I would love to hear them. I am completely new to this diet

Actually I stopped bothering with ketogenic diets, as I never personally saw a difference between them at the same calories as a non-ketogenic diet, and I never found any real scientific study/data showing either better fat loss or muscle retention.

It does seem to work well for some people though, so its hard to say whether its another question of enzymes and other body chemistry as to whether it works well for you or not. Just like with tons of products, results seem to be a bit individual.

The only thing specific to your diet i'd say is to try and get more of the fat from fish oil, coconut oil, or nuts. just for health reasons.

I have bulked and dieted down many time and my common complaint each time was that I was losing just as much muscle as fat. Even if I dieted slow where I lost a pound a week, half would be muscle. I have a very stubborn body with cutting. After reading in a keto diet that muscle is spared atleast grabbed my attention enough to give it a go. If it works, awesome. If not then I now know to use a more traditional approach. As for healthier fat, just picked up some oil to add to isolate protein shakes yesterday so I can reduce the unhealthy fats. Salmon is a staple in my diet and I got a freezer full of it so the main portions are good to go! Thanks for the advice.

BW this am was 242.8! Really dropped the last few days. I was drinking between 7-10L of water each day. Very surprising how much weight came off this week. Rather than a one day carb up last last week (since I forgot on Friday) I am doing it proper this week. I just finished training legs and ate 220g oats and enough protein powder to equal 150g of carbs and 75g protein which is recommended immediately after training and 2 hours after as well. Carbs will be flooded today, then tommorow I will eat 500g with mostly complex during the day. Anyways onto the workout...

Squats (was only able to do 315x2 last week because of injured back) so today is
my first real leg day in 4 weeks.

    barx10
    135x2x10
    225x2x5
    315x10
    315x10
    315x10
315x5- back was getting fatigued so i called it there.

    Leg press
    6ppsx10
    7ppsx10
    8ppsx10
    9ppsx5
    8ppsx10

    Quad extensions
    285# stack
    x12,12,12

    Hamstring curls
    120x15

That was good. My legs were messed up since I havent hit them for so long. Very, very happy I am able to atleast rep 315 now with my back not getting angry at me. I might just work with this weight for a few weeks and up the reps. Will keep my back safe while adding some muscle if I am lucky.

Done! Tommorow 30 minutes of hard cardio.

BW stats for first two weeks- will post workout later.
    1 257.0 pounds. (Monday, February 21st)
    2 254.0
    3 253.4
    4 252.2
    5 251.0
6 250.8- Refeed day. Ate 1000g carbs today.
    7 254.4
    8 252.2
    9 250.6
    10 246.4
    11 245.5
12 242.8 Refeed starting after squat workout today 6-700g carbs
13 248.8 Refeed all day today as well (Saturday)
    14 251.0
    15 246.6 (Monday- 2 weeks)

So far the diet is very easy to follow and is getting some good results. Obviously after 2 weeks nothing spectacular happens but what I am impressed with is that I still have some strength with this diet. I normally use a low carb, low fat approach and hold strength for 1 week then flatline. So far, so good

I am on the same diet right now. I have lost a good amount of body fat thus far. I am on week 8 of the diet and I enjoy it most of the time. My only issue is how much weight I gain on my carb-up day. For example, I was 195 on Friday and I started my carb load after my weigh in. After my 24-30 hours of carbs I weighed myself again and gained 8 pounds! This was a total mind F**K for me! What's crazy is how fast it goes away after you start back with the 0 carbs for the week. Interesting diet is what I am getting at. Just had to throw my 2 cents in!

Thanks for the sub. The part that I enjoy about this diet actually is that I carb up and gain weight. You view it as a mind ****, I view it as weightgain=strength so it mentally assists me in the gym with it in the back of my mind. Also after carbing that hard I do not even eat a crumb of carbs during the week. Only trace from Natty PB of veggies. It really keeps me honest on the diet. First week was a little wierd gaining so much but it comes off as fast as you put it on. First week of 2 day carbing so we will see if it strips away as fast this time.

Ha, STILL being the keyword. I think the supercompensation of glycogen storage is the key to this diet. Cant be afraid to card it up hard. I am only 2 weeks in of course and a lot can change but I think it should hopefully hold pretty steady. Back is good enough to try deadlifts this week so that will be the real test of holding strenght (although I havent pulled for 4 weeks so it should be weaker from that)

Also you didnt cheat this weekend. It was strictly to have a better leg day, right

That's a good outlook on it. I think I will steal that mind set from you lol. My two day carb load weight drops pretty quick. It's just that huge change in the scale man...messes with me lol.

Ha, ha... well I keep most of my fat on my stomach so it isnt so apparent when I gain or lose 8 pounds overnight. I am sure once I get leaner and then bloat with water the next day after a refeed I will wake up and freak the **** out. I am just trying to forget whatsoever I am dieting when I train. I go for blood everytime with heavy excercises.

As for the post being screwy, same thing happened to me trying to multi-quote. It didnt post half of it and the part it posted showed that I wrote it when it was quoted. AM better fix this before I have a low carb freak out on them. haha
I will sleep with you AND your pet for 50 bucks!
