JLinteris's training log (power and physique??)

    Hi everyone,
My name is Jordan Linteris and I am new to this site. Currently I am in the process of lifting moderately heavy while trying to actually achieve some sort of physique. This is new to me and for years I was always in a huge calorie surplus and didn't focus on aesthetics whatsoever. With that being said, heavy weight is equally as important so I wont be dropping down to get washboard abs or anything. Just want to stay large and not look like a pig doing so. Also, I am steroid-free. I use a multivitimin and whey protein before bed. Anyways I will get on with what I did yesterday.

Incline bench press (4th time doing incline in 3 years because of shoulder)
    135x10
    185x10
    225x10
    245x8
    275x5
    300x1- easy
    225x15

    Incline DB fly
    40,50,60 x 10

    Incline cable crossovers
    75x10,8,7

    1 arm bicep machine curls
    45x10
    70x8
    90x2x4

    1 arm cable curls
    60x10x3

Incline work is completely foreign to me but as long as I can do it I will be kicking the **** out of myself with it in the next little while to try to bring up my upper chest. Doing biceps with volume to actually develope the biceps is wierd too. Haha, normally I do some reps with a heavy barbell and that is it.

    Currently stats:
    6'2
    245 pounds

    Thanks for the sub, oufinny!

    Here is todays thrashing.
Beltless ATG squats. No belt, no wraps.
    135x5x2
    225x5
    275x3
    315x1
    365x1
    405x5 with room to spare
    455x1
500x1 PR !!! Pumped and this was bottomed out.
    405x5

    Right into-
    Beltless ATG front squats
    225x5
    275x5x2

    1 leg legpress
    360 pounds x 12 PR
    410 X 10 PR

    Beltless SDLD
    225x10
    315x12 slow and deep.

Kickass training session. I am leaving the belt off for a long time to keep sh itkicking the core. Squat form is getting really good and I feel like I had way better breathing on the squats since introducing hard cardio 2 weeks ago. Shoulders and triceps tommorow...

Yesterday- Did 30 minutes of hard cardio on the revolving staircase. This was planned for Saturday but I drank enough beers on Friday night that I was good looking, so I took Saturday off.

    Today (Monday)
    Deadlifts-
    135x5x2
    225x5
    315x5
    405x2
    500x1
    585x1
635x1 (could have doubled it. Keeping intensity a little lower this week)
    500x5

1 arm Barbell rows (I do these 1 hand and 1 knee on the bench looking at the floor. Much more difficult than leaning into a dumbbell rack)

    100x5
    160x20 PR!
    160X15 gassed.

    Atlantis t bar rows
4 plates x 5- machine sucks ass. Moving on.

Straight arm pull lat pull downs
    1/2 stack x 12
    3/4 stack x 8
    Stack x 4

BW Wide grip pull ups x 10

    Seated cable rows 180x10 light.

    Seated DB shrugs
    160x15,15,12

    Good mornings (Beltless)
    Back was already roasted
    135x10
    185x10
    225x10
    275x10

Drank a protein shake and got the hell out of there. Chest and Biceps tommorow.
I will sleep with you AND your pet for 50 bucks!

    Tuesday workout
    Chest and Biceps

DB bench press (first time in 5 years doing these)
    60x8
    80x8
    100x8
    130x7
140x4 dead! These were very hard to find a groove in.

    Barbell bench press
    135x5
    225x27 yes 27, not 2.
    275x2
    315x6
    365x2

Incline Barbell superset with cable flyes.
    185x10 75x10 flyes
    205x12 75x10
    225x10 75x6 (failed on 7- fried!)

    Cable bicep curls
    50x15
    80x10
    110x4 Heavy!

Atlantis Bicep machine- 1 arm at a time
    45x10
    70x10
    90x4

    Hammercurls
    50x12,10,8 Done!

Workout went really well today. Volume for the pressing was insane for what I am used to and I was really surprised I got 365 for a double after some of those sets. My arms felt heavy before I even started that set. Tommorow is cardio, then beltless squats on Thursday.

    Thursday
Beltless squats +200B For reference, 200B means blue strongbands. They have 202 pounds of tension at the top of the lift for me. I set up a scale at the exact height to measure. For everyone that have used them, you understand how mean they are.

    Beltless squats +200B
    135x5x2
    225x5 add bands
    315x5
    365x5
    405x3
445x1 (645 at the top) Was a good fight!
    535 walkout- CNS stimulation.

    Beltless front squats
    135x5
    225x5x2
    275x5
    315x1

    Lying hack squat machine
    215x10
295x10 This machine is crazy. Dont judge by 295. Insanely tough stack

    Lying leg curls
    100x10
    160x6
    130x10

    Done!

Pretty cooked from the band work. Havent used this excercise for a while but plan on doing them more often... bi weekly perhaps. Punthra tried them for the first time today and nearly **** himself. No lie.... the smell in the air was proof!

    John,
We rotate our workouts depending on how we are feeling. I normally give any extra attention strictly to hamstring since this rolls into strength gains for squats but for today my lower back was not feeling it. Not that it was tired, but partially out. I noticed it even on squats so I steered clear from stiff legged deadlifts, put the attention to quads and called it there. I agree though, lacking hamstring work!

As for the walkout, yes I do it once a month or so for CNS stimulation. I used to do it often and find that when you overload too often it actually has a negative effect. Rarely using it seems to work for me. Today was a good walkout. The weight was 735 on the top and without a belt tested my core to the max. Thanks for the comment!

Oh and John, Jason smelled like the basic rotten egg smell. It was really gross. I am unphaseable and have a strong stomach, but something is obviously wrong with his insides. lol

lol could be all that protein i smell horrible at tims myself , esp when I take 300 plus carbs and 350- plus protein.

back in 2007 I used to take in 300 -400 carbs and 400 protein and I was soo disgusting, now a days I take in less protein 1-1.5 .

how many grams protein do you take in? how about carbs right now?

Ha, ha... I know the feeling. Last time I was bulking my wife would wake me up by spraying my ass with an air freshener. Guess it was pretty bad. As for protein consumption, I have went a year straight basically eating 400+g a day and now I eat about 250g a day. The different in strength and muscle gain is zero! The only difference I got out of eating that much was a sore stomach, bloating and awful gas. I think you need to be cycling for your body to really appreciate the added protein/carbs. Carbs I would say I eat about 3-400g a day, sometimes less, sometimes way the hell more. I generally eat pretty clean.

Shoulders are pretty beat up. The push presses were hard as hell and felt very ackward. Especially catching the rep with an olympic hold. I like to start each rep off of my chest rather than starting at the chin. I am going to be using push press as a heavy shoulder excercise for the next few weelks until it feels natural to perform, then I will mix it up again.

Punthra has been giving me N2TKS as a preworkout. I have used loads of **** but this stuff kicks ass. I dont get as energetic as, say, ephedrine, but it is close. The reason I like it is that the energy is maintained well beyond the workout. I still felt like training, or running or something. Something I will buy once I eat all of Punthra's jug
I will sleep with you AND your pet for 50 bucks!
