Regular oats vs. instant oatmeal

    Regular oats vs. instant oatmeal


    I always use old fashioned rolled oats for my oatmeal intake but this weekend when I start my cycle I will also be starting a new diet which will require me to eat a lot more oatmeal.  I know there are less carbs in instant oatmeal but is there any other negative reason to stay away from instant?

    Other than faster digestion and a higher glycemic index........

    uncooked is not listed. But cooked instant Oats have a GI of 66 and Rolled Oats are in the mid 50's (depending on manufacturer).

    Cooking typcially increases the glycemic index of a food. So, the numbers raw will be lower.
