Fasting mimicking diet (FMD) whos done it?

  1. Fasting mimicking diet (FMD) whos done it?

So I’ve researched the FMD and have completed the first 4 days cycle (first set of 3) out of this 3 month plan. I did this though in a keto style, where carbs were kept to 10g (max) per day.

For myself I kind of stumbled through the 4 days as I wasn’t prepared for the onslaught of un eatable food in my house. I still managed to stay around 400-600 calories though.

Even with the rough first cycle, I still noticed a significant reduction in inflammation and joint pain in my shoulders, as well a a significant reduction in my waist size and how my gut feels overall ( so much less bloat)
As far as subcutaneous fat, I didn’t notice much, if I had stayed in ketosis this might have been different, as my arms and legs were looking shredded, especially the day after the refeed.

The first 2 days I was drinking a lot of coffee, but that was really hard on my stomach by day 3, so I switched to green tea which helped tremendously.

So I’m wondering who else has done this and what supps did you rely on?
Personally I’ve now got supplemental ketones ( didn’t buy a bottle last time until day 3$) as was as a tub of vpx ketonz, cel tudca, and boxed bone beef broth for next run.
    Other supps used during this:
    Sns higenamine
    Sns focus xt
    Whey protein
    Bcaa
    Omega 3
    Multi vitamin
    Coconut oil

    Experiences?
Not asking for advice, not dissatisfied with my great results so far, and just looking for discussion on others personal experiences with this.

  2. The Mrs does this as she has multiple sclerosis and this way of eating successfully manages her symptoms
As for fat loss, time restricted eating isn't going to do much. Weekly caloric intake matters more. A few tips though

Keep protein as low as possible during the 5 day fast
Keep carbs at the same level as fats during the 5 day fast
For the two days after the fast, eat as much protein as you can
Don't worry about ketosis. The goal isn't ketosis

  3. She doesn't need to be on here to give her experiences. I'm sorry that it isn't the magic bullet you were hoping it would be
I know the literature on time restricted eating back to front and have spoken with the creator of the diet Dr. Longo at length about the subject

It's not a fat loss or a muscle gain diet. The number of calories you eat in a week dictates this. The macros you've chosen are not the macros the creator chose. Having fats that high will not mimic fasting

Go and buy Dr. Longo's book on the subject and read it several times to understand why everything is set the way it is

Bro, what are you talking about?
There are no questions asking for any advice anywhere in this thread. if you don’t understand this and find yourself tempted to give more unsolicited advice, go back and re read the op 2-3 more times please.
There is no discussion of negative results anywhere in this thread.
There is only a friendly thread wanting to discuss others who have done FMD, or even other forms of prolonged fasting and the supplements they use/used.

  5. You asked for experiences and I gave my experience. Maybe add some aromasin into your supplementation routine.

  6. Ha ha ha she was sitting next to me and we discussed this before I posted.
I also did all the research for her on the diet. I've had a long form conversation with the guy that created it. I lived with her throughout it and we work together also. It's not a magic fat loss diet or even very good for fat loss compared to standard ways of eating. It's job is to lower IGF-1 and that's what it was designed to do and nothing more.

If you feel that this experience isn't good enough then feel free to go somewhere else.

You seen very smart when you type, but then you just ruin it with little things like this.
It’s like walking into a store and telling the clerk, if you don’t like my service go somewhere else! Uh, you came in here.......

Since you seem so adamant about posting unsolicited information, It’d probably be a great idea for you to create your own thread ( crazy I know ) and title it, information about diets and nutrition or something like that, then you can just post all the info you want in the thread, and no one will give you any shiit about it!

  8. It was a response to the post that you deleted that said you were going to go somewhere else. You're a very rude person, you asked for experiences and I gave the experience of the person I share my life with...

I said I was going to leave this thread up... i now see your reading comprehension is what’s lacking.
You probably read too quickly or skim a post and assume the rest or what is implied.
No biggie, Ill offer my own unsolicited advice and suggest when reading to slow down and re read a post a few times so you can take the time to try and fully understand what is being said.
I learned this from dealing with add over the years after.
Hey bro, I’m not rude, I was very polite and forgiving in my initial response back to your op, you unfortunately read it too quickly and didn’t get the message or didn’t care.
You seem like a nice guy so I’m not sure why you keep posting in my thread.
All you posted about your wife’s experience was she does FMD for her MS. That was it. Then you proceeded to attempt to teach someone not looking for advice or to be taught and despite me clearly listing everything in the op, ignored it as well as fabricated your own version of my experience.
With all that, you really think I ( or anyone else) would want or trust advice from you?

  10. Because what you posted up as your macros is not the fasting mimicking diet. It was something else that you saw online or made up yourself. The only similarities with the fasting mimicking diet is it's low in calories and you do it for 5 days. If there was a thread about experiences on the fasting mimicking diet, you wouldn't be able to post an experience because what you posted isn't the fasting mimicking diet.

The fasting mimicking diet is 500-700kcal, equal parts carbs and fats for 5 days, 2 days ultra high protein.

  11. @Admin can you please delete this thread? It’s a complete waste of space. I apologize in advance for this.

Not entirely, if I may add a little of my own unsolicited information.

@AlexPowell Being a carer for a parent with MS the FMD is a dietary way to achieve similar goals to what modern medicine would do with cortisol therapy(loosly put).
Chronic stress and elevated body temp are much larger issues.
Swim in a heated pool they said, it will help you they said.

Yeah I've heard the body temp thing as well. We always try and avoid her having an elevated body temp just to be safe. But one part of me thinks that perhaps if she was conditioned to having an elevated body temp things wouldn't be so bad. I definitely don't want her to start saunaing though unless the Dr says it's a good idea

Trying to condition to heat will only progress it quicker(phenotype dependent).
It's basically a breakdown of the insulation in the CNS pathways, heat will worsen the shortening of electrical signals(if I remember correct your in IT so you will know what I mean).

    Stress = Excitable neuronal load.
    Heat = Poor signal connection.
Inflammation = Over active immune system.
    Walking the long road.
