You are correct but older people with this have much worse impaired B cell function and may actually need something to help in the beginning

Diabetes insipidis (Type 1) is genetic. Diabetes mellitus (Type 2) is self inflicted. You're right it all came back to diet: constant eating insulinogenic foods in large quantities caused a permanent resistance and decreased secretion. Type 1 doesn't make insulin.

sorry but you need to re-google your diabetes, insipidus has nothing to do with type 1 or 2
