The current studies show that after high-fat diet-induced weight gain in rats, sleep quality is poor and orexin sensitivity is decreased.
This is the telling portion of the study. They didn't just adjust the macro ratios of the rats diet, they overfed them. Overfeed rats with fat, overfeed them with carbs, overfeed them with protein so that they become obese and guess what? Bad things happen. Did we really need a study for this? This study provided no benefit, but we take it a step further and allow it to become harmful because the media drops terrible sound bites and headlines on the general public that read "High Fat Diets Ruin Sleep".

This article is grossly negligent, most people aren't equipped to decipher what really happened here, and this only perpetuates the prevalence of low fat products lining supermarket shelves.

    Shame.

I agree completely. I get about 50% of my calories from fat (what most people would call a high fat diet) and have never slept better.

Another flaw is it doesn't mention types of fat. Sure give someone 40% of their diet in trans fat and it will def mess stuff up.
