any thoughts for a friend of mine?

ok, this is for a female friend, cut and pasted from a letter i got - any thoughts on whats going on here, or what to recommend???

Ok, here's what I know about my insulin resistance and testosterone: I have -too much- testosterone based on various blood tests and hormones they've put me on, as well as how insulin resistence is the opposite of diabetis -- until it wears the pancreas out and then everything switches 'cause your body doesn't make enough insulin anymore. They put me on a sythetic testosterone for awhile so my body would stop trying to make it's own (and so it could be regulated better), but they also put me on other hormones as well, and that made me so sick for so long that it wasn't worth the then-known benefits, namely my possibly being able to have a kid some day, less acne, and fewer weird hairs growing where they shouldn't.

Also, with me, exercise kind of has a different effect. Because the receptors in my muscles are closed, due to there being too much insulin in my blood, my muscles don't get any of the energy from my food that they should: it all goes directly into fat cells instead. Exercise just wears me out under normal conditions. If I mix it with a lower-carb diet, take actos or use caffein (I primarily use that now, at about 30 - 60 mg per day, though I mostly use it to stay awake, um, when I should just be sleeping at night, but anywho), then things go a lot better (and I'm a hell of a lot smarter when glucose goes into my brain too, lol).

She needs to listen to her Doctor and take HIS advice. This is a medical question, and if ANYONE other than Trauma1 were to answer it, it would be illegal. If she took any advice me, or anyone else without a PhD were to give her, and an adverse reaction occurred, then we could get sued. Maybe Trauma1 will post here, but I apologize as I cannot help you out bro. PM him maybe?

lol. madness i know. even a doctor cannot post with advice unless she is their client. just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this that maybe she should bring up to HER doctor, seeing as how doctors seem to miss things that are not within their realm of expertise - like that TV show "mystery diagnosis". thats the idea behind me asking, and giving her thoughts to mention to HER doctor. that takes away the legality issue, since nobody on this forum giving input is giving her advice (number 1), and the doctor always will have the final word (number 2). she's not stupid, and going to experiment around with aas or otc meds without medical consent.

additionally, there are people on this forum - like you bassgod, that could easily go toe to toe with 90% of doctors, if you were talking about the risks/gains of steroids, activity in the body, etc. since her problem is about insulin, muscles, exercise, and testosterone, i think this is the ideal place to ask anyone if they've ever heard of this, or had something vaguely similar happen to them.

I say she continues the Actos to keep her blood sugar in check, as well as create a STRICT diet, to again try to maintain normal blood sugar levels. Insulin users DO get fat. Patients that I dispense insulin to, are overweight about 90% of the time. By overweight I mean OBESE, not just 15lbs or so heavier than average. I've honestly never heard of anyone having this problem before, so I can't help all that much. Just tell her to maintain normal testosterone levels for a woman and keep checking the blood sugar with a glucometer. See if she can get some bulk bcaa's and mix them with a zero sugar or low sugar drink to help with workouts. This will give her the fuel her muscles need and the energy to complete the sessions(granted her test and insulin levels have become normal again)

lol.. yeah, i've never heard of energy not getting into the muscles. i was a little floored when i heard this myself. and yes, she is obese - i think 180ish on a 5'4" frame.

maybe that celltech stuff with their add claiming to "harness the power of insulin".... lol... 75g of sugar a serving is not what i would call "harnessing".
