What is your guys’ thoughts on bix squats? Personally i love them and they permit me to squat heavier, but i always am scared of that kind of weight being compressed on the spine from two angles. Any horror stories/ suggestions to avoid injuries?

I don't use box squats that way at all
I use a box that's at a depth I want to hit( lower than normal) and I tap my ass on it.
If I want to stop all movement I use pause squats.
I know the squat your talking about.
And I know its done a lot.
But I would be scared to do that with more than than my 75%

Just for reference, i am talking about “pause squats” not like rolling and bouncing off the box... that just seems reckless

Oh heck yeah I do them.
Jason blaha( who I take with a grain of salt)
Did a good video about as we get older pauses can replace volume in some cases.
Pause ing allows the muscle to remain under tension without many reps.

I happen to listen to him.
99% of the time his power liftiing advice is dead on
His calling out fake natties is dead on.
But I like people that piss people off.
But agree fully he looks like **** and is obnoxious.

So wen I box squat
I decend till my but hits the box.
Short pause.
The stand back up.
I never let the weight transfer.
And I don't sit all the way down.
I've seen videos of west side doing box squats and they Definetely sit all the way down.
But they are all about conjugating.
So they do a whole block where all there lifts are versions of the lift just made harder.
Paused box squats
Bench with chains
Deficet Deadlifts.

But I agree with you...letting the weight possibly compress the lower spine is sketchy.
If attempted to just have to stay tight and keep the spine in a safe, erect position.
