    Well he said intermediate
    That normally means past the point where a linear program is beneficial.

    But he is running a linear program so basically doing exactly what you said

    He keeps adding weight to the bar each week.

    I would still call that novice gains.

    Regardless
    I made it seem more complicated than it needed to be.

    In my opinion, I would take a deload week, do some research (as it seems like you are) and increase calories. Since you are more focused on strength you need to be eating. Iím not an expert in the powerlifting area so I will let others handle proper training for that goal. But what I can help with is diet. Diet is key to ANY goal. You want strength + mass? Diet. You will see progressive strength gains as well as proper weight gain.
