Ok dumb question but for the life of me I cannot think of the word and none of my Google searches have yielded anything . When you’re lifting on bench for example you hit that wall where you can’t lift anymore because your muscles are pumped and filled w “blank” not blood, or oxygen. It’s one of those we’ll know things we’ve heard for years . It’s a protein of some type . The word is just escaping me , I keep thinking cortisol lol but I know that’s not it.

Yes! Omg thanks that was it. I was trying to tell my son about the process but couldn’t think of the word and it was driving me nuts . Lifesaver
Don’t
Lactic acid doesn’t cause muscle shutdown per se-that is old and/or bro science.
Your inability to lift the weight comes from the brain not activating as many motor neurons.
This is due in part-only in part-to sensations of lactic acid buildup
