Front or back of your lower leg?
Is the pain always there or just with weight?
Does it hurt when you flex your ankle?

You might have strained the muscle that runs down the front of the shin (tibialis anterior) or its attachment tendons.
It could also be a stress reaction/fracture-but that is unlikely, unless you also run a lot.
I'd just take it easy, if you need to, take some ibuprofen to work through it and ice after workouts to reduce swelling

Do you have tender trigger points in the calf, ham, quad?

I'm guessing the same as the aforementioned post about tibialis anterior micro-tears. Google "shin splints." See if this is your issue, then we can help.
