I've been doing the Stronglifts 5x5 program since October last year (with a few set backs due to sickness and traveling, but those forced deloads might have actually been helpful), and I'm wondering if I should transition to a more advanced program for the squatting part. I'm starting to feel that with squats I'm doing too much, i.e. it seems that I can't recover in time to squat with an increased load 2 days after my last workout. I did 142.5 lbs (I'm female, this is close to 10 lbs under my body weight) this morning and I felt good, but the last workout on Monday I did squats with only 120 lbs. It seems that alternating light and heavy squats from workout to workout works better, so is that the answer to my question? Or should I switch to a 5x3 or 3x3 or some such program for the squats and squat heavy every workout?
