despite not experiencing any improvement in body composition.

At least thats what the researchers of this study found. Researchers recruited 34 participants and instructed them to perform 6 sessions of moderate activity for 40 mins. They did this 3 times a week for 2 weeks for a total of 6 sessions. Then the same participants were instructed to stop exercising and instead read in stead (1 session a day 3 times a week for 2 weeks). The participants body weight, shape and body image were measured at the start and end of each 2 week period. At the end of the study researchers found that while body weight and shape did not change in either group various aspects of body image did change. This improvement was only seen in the exercise group. So overall exercise can improve people’s feelings about their body even if they don’t lose weight or achieve noticeable improvements. Exercise helps people feel better.
