    Not a common problem for most on here. However, I am looking for tips/suggestions/etc. For guys who travel a lot for their jobs. I am 23 years old, in good shape, but not like I used to be. I am not wanting to be a BB anymore haha but I hate feeling fat. I travel damn near every week. I try to lift at local gyms if possible, but many times I am working 12 hours days, and just dont have it in me to drive around trying to find a gym or there just isnt one even near where I am located. I am a traveling salesman btw. My question is what do people do in this situation? I try to eat fairly healthy, and that is the only reason I have not gained weight. Please help with workout suggestions, tips, etc.


  2. Get some adjustable weights and a pullup bar. Knock out some killer workouts, P90X style. You can lean or grow with a simple, easy to transport set up.

    I thought about buying one of those pull bars that go in the doors that would fit in a hotel bathroom frame. What is a good brand? I used to see infomercials on them a lot.

    Right now I just do a few hundred situps a night and normally pushups as well if I know I am not going to be able to get to the gym.

    Would yall suggest buying p90x or a different one for the computer?

  4. Up to you. The pullup bar doesn't matter, I would say just get the cheapest one.
    As far as P90X, you can buy that, or just borrow someones, or google the workout plan and do it that way. It is a structured easy to follow workout strategy, but it isn't super special. You can create your own workouts with a little ingenuity. Try the Jefit app.

  5. I knew a guy that did a lot of travel and put his effort into 2 days per week lifting, sometimes maybe less. Lifted in comps while this travel was going on.
    He would be home on the weekends and always put good effort in on his days off.
    My point is, the quantity is not always as great as the quality of the W/O.
    When you have the opportunity to get into the gym, just make it a good full body effort with the compound exercises and some focused work.
    You might be surprised to see the outcome. Lastly, getting fat can be more controlled with diet, which is just will power...!

  6. When I was on the road I learned that getting up early and lifting was the only way I could fit it in my schedule. If you wait until after 12 hour days you'll never do it. The mind is tired and it controls the body. For hotel room workouts get the TRX workout system. It's easy to pack. Get the military version, it's more heavy duty.

  7. Some good advice in here for sure, I really agree with the morning workout aspect. Knock it out before starting your job so it's done, you'll see an increase in energy during the day as well. Even if it's just hitting up the hotel treadmill or something. I did P90x years and years ago,with some good results. only needed a pull up bar and bands.

  8. Check these bands out. They are fully looped and strong enough to use as power lifting bands. But for your purposes you can workout any body part with them. They come with an instructional video with hundreds of exercises.

  9. Thank for the help! Yall are making me feel better.

    I normally try to hit up a local gym in the mornings when I can. When I do find time to hit a gym, I normally crush my legs and back. I figure if Im going to hit a gym mine as well hit the biggest muscle groups. Diet could be better no doubt, its not horrible but deff needs improving!

    I will get some bands, and pull up bar. That alone makes me feel confident that I will be able to increase my workout capability.

    You got it dude, take advantage when you can actually hit the gym and hit it hard! Big muscle groups like you said!

  11. I'm on the road a lot and I plan my training around my trips. I always lift on Friday and Sunday when it's easier to get in a training session and then squeeze in two other sessions. Get a membership to a gym that has locations all over your territory and have this mapped out as part of your day as though it is any other visit you have to make.

    Nutrition is slightly more difficult, but not impossible. Whole rotisserie chickens are cheap and provide a high amount of protein. Always have water and protein powder with you in addition to nuts, some fruits, and jerky.

    Hey buddy I live in Dallas, where you live?

    I joined 24hrfitness, but my territory is TX, OK, and LA. So I travel a LOT. I covered 1200miles 2 weeks ago, and did about 600 in three days this week. I see LA fitness in a lot of places, but I think 24 still might be more frequent. What do you think?

    I'm close to San Antonio. My territory is from Amarillo to Odessa to Waco to Eagle Pass. I usually see a Gold's at most of my stops and use those.

  14. Take a look at that dude from Restaurant Impossible. Former Marine. Robert Irvine.

    He is pretty jacked, and he spends a lot of time traveling and shooting. Sure he used to be more jacked, but he definitely finds time to get some work done, because he isn't falling apart.
