combining DC training with Lyle's periodization

I just finished reading an interesting article over at Mind and Muscle ( http://magazine.mindandmuscle.net/magmain.php?issueID=17&pageID=198 ). In part II of the article Lyle points out the importance of training with a variety of rep ranges. I had wanted to try out Doggcrapp training after I recover from my shoulder injury, and after reading this article it made me think that DC training was lacking in the ability to train with different rep ranges. I've decided I may try a modified version of DC training, doing 2 sets per bodypart each workout, one set in a lower rep range, and a second set in a higher rep range. Of course, frequency and/or intensity would have to be tweaked a bit to account for the the fact that its essentially double the volume of the original DC method, but I think with some experimentation it could work extremely well. What do you guys think of this?
