| Registered User | wrist straps versus grip strength I know wrist straps are frowned upon in some cases but do I: A. Take time off from lifting heavy to develop my grip or B. Lift heavy with straps and develop my grip on a different day any exercises to develop grip out there? or should I just hit up wal mart and grab a grip trainer and use it in my spare time? | Muscle Pharm Rep | 1. Only use them when absolutely needed for now. 2. At the end of each workout do something to increase your grip strength 3. Use thick bars when ever you can 4. I was doing rack pulls without straps last week. I made my way up to 230 but was only able to get it once before my grip gave out. I threw on straps and got it up 4 more times. I know it's a light weight... but it's the beginning of a journey for me! Penn State Pride! Next, tie the other end to the weight of choice. You basically want to hold it out in from of you off the ground(pronator side of wrist down), and manually roll the the weight up to the top of the rod. Then, manually unroll it in reverse. Do 4-5 sets of this every other day and you'll notice very much improved grip strength.
