Is this Whey statement BS?
Mods... this could have gone either here or in the nutrition forum. Whey is so ubiquitous in its use, that Im sure either place would be ok.. So I put it here because of the extra traffic this forum gets.
So, I just got another email newsletter today from that guy Im sure many of you hear from on a regular basis: Wade McNutt. Today, hes railing against Protein sources commonly used.
Id like some of you knowledgeable guys to please comment on this rather outrageous statement that appears in the middle of the newsletter:
"You may be surprised to find out that most whey proteins on the market and advertised in magazines are totally useless to when it comes to building muscle. Most whey proteins sold move through your digestive tract too fast, which doesn't allow you to absorb all of the amino acids you need. Without a massive amount of , whey is the sugar or crack cocaine of protein.
Generally, whey flies out of your digestive system into your toilet almost as soon as you put it in your body. This leaves you with messed up blood sugar levels, and you craving for more food, not too mention no muscle growth.
What you must find is a premium protein blend that allows slower digestion and maximal absorption of the amino acids to feed your working muscles. "
When he says the whey shakes we depend so much on are TOTALLY USELESS, hes making a claim that drives a dagger right through the center of the heart of most of our nutritional plans. Now, Im not saying that 'real food' isnt better than whey shakes.. But the fact is, most bodybuilders today get from 1/3 to 1/2 of their daily protein requirements from whey protein shakes, and if these were really TOTALLY USELESS, well, dont you tend to think wed have heard about it before?.
Prior to yesterday, I thought this guy was out to lunch anyway.. Then I read a post from somebody who actually ordered his program, tapes, books, the whole shebang.. And, he swore by it! Otherwise, I probably wouldnt even be posting this, and would have summarily dismissed his statement out of hand. Now, although I still believe its totally BS, I cant say it isnt bothering me.
what do you think?

Well, I don't know if this helps, but I am a diabetic, and I have a blood glucose meter.
I check my blood a couple of times a day, and I have not noticed the slightest difference while taking ON 100% whey protein supplement.
I am also building muscle, and while whey supplements are NOT my main source of protein, I can tell you that I am sure that they help. I am also reasonably satisfied after I drink it mixed with 1% milk.
i.e., I don't need more fixes throughout the day.... :-)

I think this is bull****. It is an ADVERTISEMENT!. Your post itself sounds like a plug for this guys progams, whoever he is. Also 1/3 to 1/2 of their protein requirements for whey protein shakes?. Who are you trying to kid? Thats ridiculous! Another thing, I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome and I have absolutlely no trouble at all with whey protein. It doesn't make me run to the bathroom at all...Screw Wade Mc****Nuts!. I wipe my ass with his "program"!Originally Posted by paul e

I was wondering why my ass was leaking...I need to stop drinking those shakes since they run through me so fast hhaah.
Its true that whey is abused, but I doubt that the bulk of that writeup is true.
edit: I don't think this is a plug; if it were I would expect AT LEAST a web address. If it is a plug...."failure" is the word I think of

Learn how to read, son. If you think my post was in any way extolling that guys programs, or what he has to say, improve your reading comprehension Asking a question about a statement is not the same as saying, 'Gee, what a great program'.Originally Posted by T-Bone

If you've ever seen this guy's web site you will sooner or later come across some really, really laughable content. His "graphs" in particular are hilarious.

I get maybe 10% of my protein intake from shakes and I have at my disposal an endless supply.
Supplements are just that... supplements. They can never replace whole foods.

I know.. he really annoys me with his spam.. Then, even if you want to view the stuff he sends, you need that apple Quicktime product to see it, which I hate.. during an install, it totally screwed up my pc, and now, its in a half installed, half uninstalled state, and I cant get rid of it. Besides, the guy is boney and weird looking!Originally Posted by Malek256

They have realplayer and quicktime alternatives Just google quicktime alternative and it will install itself as a codec that your windows media player, media player classic, etc. will all use.Originally Posted by paul e

I sympathise - I won't have Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player or RealAnything on my machine, because they take over & screw everything up & are virtually impossible to get rid of - amost as bad as porn-site pop-ups. (By comparison, I've always found Quicktime to be civilised & well-behaved.)Originally Posted by paul e
