Increased Prostaglandins = More Muscle

We all know how important inflammation is for muscle growth, it's a response from the immune system to signal cell repair and building after damage to muscle fibres through the stress of a workout. Now is there anyway to increase the inflammation through supplements, aside from Arachidonic Acid?


My understanding is Essential fatty acids (EFAs), the pro-inflammatory Omega-6's control inflammation through conversion to PGE1 & PGE2, with the metabolism looking like

Linoleic Acid (LA) -----> Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA)-----> Dihomogamma Linolenic Acid (DGLA)-----> PGE1 (Mildly anabolic and anticatabolic, anti-inflammatory)

Linoleic Acid(LA) -----> Arachidonic Acid (AA) -----> PGE2 (Much more anabolic, pro-inflammatory)

I know bodybuilders who have injected PGE2 directly, but is there any other way to raise it significantly beside AA? I doubt AA is all there is.

“The greater the amount of Arachidonic Acid in the body, the more eicosanoids are produced and the greater the inflammation.
It is through these Eicosanoids that the majority of benefits seen with Arachidonic acid and its effect on body composition are noticed and the reason why anti-inflammatories (which downregulate eicosanoid synthesis) are typically avoided around consumption of Arachidonic Acid.

There are multiple subgroupings of Eicosanoids which are:

-Prostagladins
-Thromboxanes
-Lipoxins
-Leukotrienes

An an increase in production of eicosanoids will lead to an increase in the above. We however, are only seeking an increase in the prostaglandins and desire to limit the conversion of Ara into the other three (more on this later).
An increase in the prostaglandins PGE2 and PGF2a bought upon by Arachidonic Acid supplementation stimulates muscle protein synthesis after a bout of exercise.”
Maybe the key here is to not only increase prostaglandin but eicosanoid production as a whole and further limit it to only prostaglandin Production. Exercise enables biosynthesis of ecosanoids then we synthesize those from ArA.
We more than likely can/still produce eicosanoids without direct ArA supplementation but not as much. So first and for most a carnitine salt or baby aspirin would inhibit thromboxane production and Lodhra Bark from ABE would inhibit luekotriene production. In theory these would still work if we still produced some eicosanoids w/o ArA supplementation.
