Agmatine and Blood Pressure

I’ve had lots of battles stabilizing my blood pressure over the past few years, and I’ve come to the conclusion that agmatine actually raises it 10-15 points both systolic and diastolic. I realize this doesn’t make sense considering it’s MOA, unless I’m missing something. But if I’m using 500mg twice a day, then my BP will be high 130’s over 80’s, while without it it will be mid 120’s to 70’s. I’m going to continue experimenting with it to really rule this out, but can anyone make sense of this?

Hmm I would honestly suspect the opposite but it’s always possible. SNS just came out with a Vaso6 supp which I find far superior for pumps. Maybe try that out?

I would say I'm a little surprised. How many days did you test this? Could have been a fluke.

I’ve done it at least 3 times. Get on it for a few days, BP climbs up, stop, comes back down. There’s been other potential factors the other times, but this time there shouldn’t be anything else.

And you are using just pure agmatine? It's not part of another supplement?

So strange since it is a vasodilator.

Not really, but agmatine’s benefits do not outweigh the long term potential consequences of mildly elevated blood pressure, in my opinion. And, if this really is elevating mine, it’s good stuff to have out there for others to be mindful of.

Further research shows that it’s effects on NOS are different depending on where it is. What if it’s acting like a NOS inhibitor like it does in the immune system and central nervous system?

I should also mention that my BP readings that are elevated are about 12 hours after dosing agmatine, and before the next dose has kicked in. Possibly a rebound effect?

And as others have alluded - maybe what you have isn't real agmatine?

But bp can change for anything, driving can elevate blood pressure, taking a shower , eatting.

Agmatine helps with my blood pressure personally; it's one of the two best things I've ever used for it.

Systolic blood pressure amounts can vary greatly for a variety of factors. Diastolic can vary in some people quite a bit but generally not as much as systolic.

I take my blood pressure 1.5 hours after waking, before eating, after sitting relaxed for 5 minutes every time. Always controlling all variables.

Taking your blood pressure after sitting for 5 minutes isn’t realistic.

Have you taken your blood pressure less than 12 hours after taking the agmatine - day an hour or 4 hours after?

I would do that and see what data you get.

Not yet. Literally never home or awake at those times. I’ll try it eventually.

After more careful review, it might actually be the rhodiola causing this blood pressure elevation. All other variables have been accounted but for some reason wasn’t even considering rhodiola. lol
Anyway, I’ll cut that out, see what happens, then start agmatine again and see how it affects it.

High 130’s over 80’s isn’t necessarily healthy, and going by your comment about it not being realistic when taken resting after 5 minutes, then my BP is more like 150/90 when walking around/doing whatever. So, if something elevates my BP into that range, then it should be a valid concern, correct?

Either way, the effect is interesting and worth discussing because it’s atypical. If you don’t believe it’s interesting or worth discussing, there’s plenty of other threads on the forum.

Again. not realistic. With what your op was stating. Use common sense.
What exactly do you mean it's not "realistic"? I am curious.
