Thoughts on this subject? I see a lot of builders doing this with their daily water intake.

The general rule is if you're going longer than 4 hours without food, BCAA's would be a good option to add in. As far as drinking them all day goes, that'd be a waste of your money. Layne Norton has tons of great studies and articles online about this subject. Do some google searches for his research and you'll find some great info.

Mr Cooper also said this:
"Don't fall for the "it's a great replacement for sugary drinks" argument. BCAAs are 6 calories per gram, and when sipped in an all day fashion, contribute heavily to both an insulin response and gluconeogenesis. Sipping on BCAA’s takes away from MPS (Muscle Protein Synthesis) as levels never get a chance to reach refractory stages before being spiked again The net effect is increased insulin and blood sugar. So when you sip on BCAAs instead of sugary drinks...you replace blood sugar with insulin."

I asked Marc Lobliner the other day and he said he sips BCAAs all day during a cut FWIW. I never noticed a difference when doing it or not honesty.

If BCAA's are 6 calories per gram how come 0 amino products list calories?

Interesting. I always figured they contained some calories just wondering why they aren't listed as actual calories on a label.
BCAA's are free forms of protein, yes they do have calories. The FDA considers them so small, they don't factor/count them
Similar to how some people prefer to count or not to count fiber calories as carbs. Personal preference.

Makes sense. I was never worried about calorie content with aminos personally. Just like some people count fish oils towards total fat macros and some don't.

I just take my two scoops intra-workout and that's it. I did the whole "sip on them all day" thing for probably a year or two and then stopped (and went back to intra-workout only) and didn't notice any difference at all. Except in my wallet ...

I think the whole day with BCAA's was a fad that quickly went away when people who didn't get free BCAAs figured out how much it was going to cost

I only use BCAAs as an Intra and that seems to work enough for me

The Solution said it nicely.

For me i'd rather use Mio or calorie free Gatorade/Powerade.
