I do you them, and I use iForce Mint Infused Fish Oil.

Fish oils them selves are not necessary, there are other ways to get in your omega fats like Udo's oil for example. I find that popping a few fish oil caps are easier and when I get that burp it tastes like mint instead of fish oil.

One of the best general health products you can purchase. The benefits of EPA/DHA are too many to count. I use Controlled Labs OxiMega. I get around 2g combined EPA/DHA daily.

I use a terrific Vitacost product. 6 grams per day gives the therapeutic doses of EPA/DHA.

It is the only product (including some that are enteric coated) I've used that leaves 0% fish burps.

After years of taking fish oil, I'm starting to think that it's simply a great way to separate a fool from his money. I've done everything from mega-dosing it to pulse doses to 3g/day every day for years...nothing to report with it or without.

IMO, eat some sockeye salmon a few times a week and call it good.

Well you won't "feel" the omega benefits outside of joint/tendon protection. So... not the smartest thing but to each his own. It's your body.

Eating salmon a few times a week > fish oil capsules

Factor in the high probability that the o3 have oxidized making the fish oil rancid thus making Irish Cannon suggestion actually the smartest thing

Reducing overall dietary omega 6:3 ratio via consuming less total omega 6 fats is more effective than either fish oil or eating more seafood.

You would have to eat a LOT of seafood to consume significant amounts of omega 3s, additionally, you need to be buying wild caught salmon since farm-raised salmon suffer from the same compromised omega 3:6 ratio as farm raised cattle.

omega-3 fats are easily oxidized and lets face it, supplement manufactures dont have the best quality control so it is very probable that these bottles are left out in room temperature for prolonged periods of time and most likely have become rancid.

I dont understand what exactly has you in "stitches". Are you contesting the peroxidizability of polyunsaturated fatty acids?

1-s2.0-S0022519304005788-gr2.jpg

The n-3 PUFA are more peroxidation-prone than n-6 PUFA and within each PUFA class there is 4-fold increase in peroxidisability between the short- and long-chain fats. DHA (22:6) is 320-fold more susceptible to peroxidation than OA (18:1).

Well if one continues to eat a high n6 diet then you are correct, eating fatty fish such as salmon wont help much. But, if one were to cut down on their n6 intake, which quite frankly they should do regardless, than eating fish should be sufficient. Farm raised salmon contains roughly assumes 10.7 grams of EPA + DPA + DHA per pound.

ethyl ester is still used. Isnt the pharma brand fish oil, Lovaza, ethyl ester?

To be fair, the consumption of oxidized fish oil hasnt been shown to have deleterious effects in humans

Glad you posted in here Judo. Fish oil (imo) has went from one of those slam dunk everyone should be loading it up type supplements to something that at least should give one pause before jumping in at mega doses. I've increased my fish consumption and lowered my use of fish oil capsules in the last year.

Particular omega 6 fatty acids, such as arachidonic acid, can be highly beneficial for athletes.
