Please end with the proprietary protein blends

Why is that companies keep putting proprietary protein blends in their products? You know the answer but wasn't better for all to inform the consumer?
Besides Trunutrition and an english brand I don't know any other brand that fully disclosure leaving for guessing the real amounts of wpc or milk protein isolates. Who cares using a powder that might have 99% wpc and 1% casein?
Isn't there the risk of the consumers stop buying those powders and keep drinking just whey? There so, is not better to tell what's in it?

Even if trutein put their percentages on their labels, how do consumers know for a fact that those percentages are actually in their product.

No one does, so really it's the difference between having a good marketing tool compared to not

If that is true what's the argument to keep the proprietaries?

So company A doesn't put out a protein that is more popular then company B and company B rips off the profile from company A.

Regardless of keeping the proprietary blends or not, it's not going to make a difference IMO. Unless they get third party testing on their products to prove what's in it, then we will never know.

So it's better to whey and casein, mix them and make your own blend

At SNS we spent a good deal of time formulating Focus XT (for example) and it's arguably the top focus supplement on the market. Why would we allow another company to copy our formulation? It protects our investment.

The fact is probably 95% of protein consumers buy a particular brand for reasons other than the profile. While it may be important to some forum members you have to remember they make up a VERY small % of buyers

A more likely reason is that dairy raws profiles can vary slightly between batches, so by not listing the specific they can float with that variance and remain within the 10% deviance allowed.

Mike is spot on. There's no sense in protecting a protein blend. Not a whole lot of intellectual property there...

I can understand when comes to other supplements like pwo, hormonal formulas, etc but protein? It seems that they want to sell you a whey+casein blend but you are getting whey (cheaper) with a hint of casein (pointless).

Companies like trunutrion, non-prop blends are more exposed to second or third partie lab tests. Look to what happened with DS ( a prop formula).
