I occasionally get cold sores too. I work for GSK which owns Valtrex, so went to the Doc asking for prescription. I must say, it's worked wonders. I know Valtrex is for STD Herpes, but it works wonders for cold sores as well. Usually has them cleared up in 2 days. I say that because, when I take pre-workouts with Agmatine, Arginine, Citrulline, etc.. I always take a Valtex once or twice a week just to keep them at bay.
i never noticed anything from agmatine alone, but when taking hemavol i always got more outbreaks than usual, i think it could be the citrulline.
And some disagreement in the literature as to whether simplex I and II are all that different. Herpes and HPV are wildly prevalent and likely to be moreso in the future. Most people will have some form of HPV in their lifetime...skin to skin contact is all that is needed to spread it.
Agmatine doesn't seem to cause cold sores for me. Citrulline and Arg both seem to.
subbed. This might get interesting.
I'm on 100g of carbs/day...in other words, ATM, I am not a very happy person :/
I don't buy it. So you're saying a steak will break u out as well?
I've not had a cold sore outbreak (and I use to get them very frequently growing up) ever since I strengthened my immune system by sorting out my diet... just sayin'
less processed food
Lysine definitely helps to heal up cold sores. Don't know about viral suppression but it also aids in collagen synthesis.
hey i just wanted to bump this for more info. i have wondered the same thing for awhile now. i know agrinine and citruline are no goes for cold sore sufferers.

Arginine flairs up my cold sores damn near instantly but no issues with citruline, agmatine or any other NO product personally.
Just balance your arginine intake with Lysine if you have any issues. I personally never had a cold sore but arginine depletes Lysine. It's all about balance. Try it
