Magnesium Glycinate Discussion.....Miracle Mineral
I know Magnesium is not the sexiest of supplements. It is not on the cutting edge but it is wildly important for the serious athlete.
I encourage everyone to do research into magnesium glycinate. It is vastly superior to the other forms of magnesium as far as absorption. Additionally some of the other forms of magnesium such as magnesium aspartate (commonly found in ) can actually have some nasty side effects. I will let you do the research since I am unable to post links. There hundreds of studies (as well as forum discussion) to be found simply by googling but I will share my story....
I have been battling anxiety and depression for about 7 months now. Somehow I stumbled upon a magnesium supplement that was touted to provide a sense of calmness. My interest was peeked and I started researching.....because I get obsessive over new and exciting things. It turns out that almost every modern human living in the United States is deficient in this mineral. The symptoms of this deficiency include hypertension, anxiety, depression, muscle spasms/twitching, and heart palpatations, among a vast laundry list of other things. I started supplementing with the magnesium glycinate and within two days I am sleeping like a rock and my disposition is calm and relaxed. I no longer have the urge to self medicate with alcohol at night. Everything it seems is just back to normal. It's not as if I am high or feel anything in particular. I'm just normal.
Does anyone have any experience with this supplement? I would really like to spread the word about this.

Great to hear you got over your depression. I've been using homemadefor over 10 years, since I was in high school. I just happen to take my Zinc, Mag and B6 pre bed because it does help me sleep well.
My choice for the different types of Zinc and Mag have evolved over the years and I am glad to say I found Magnesium Glycinate Chelate about 6 months ago and I love it. I use Albion.
I do have a question...
I was told you only need to take 100mg. Is that right? Or should I be taking 400mg?

Interested in finding out more information about this one. I Think its would be great to see some results from it. Also do you know of anything to spark a sex drive other than viagara or clalis? I have a friend that is looking to get into something like that. I really think it would be great if you had some suggestions. Also I hear that for cuts the best thing out there would be anavar. What do you guys think about that?

The magnesium Glycinate (MG) has completely relaxed me, not in a drugged out way. I am typically tight as a drum in my chest (anxiety) two days after starting the MG i noticed that was gone. Then a day later I remember hearing birds chirping. It was like a movie. I imagine all that had happened was that the ruminating thoughts in my head had dissipated and freed my senses to actually be present in the world.
I have been taking 800 mgs. 200 mgs in the morning. 200 mgs at lunch. and 400 before bed to help me sleep. According to the FDA this is very high. However, according to progressive doctors this is perfectly fine. After I am stable for quite some time I will most likely drop down to 400 ed.
Are you using optizinc?

Do you worry at all about competitive absorption with calcium? Do you get plenty of calcium? Just curious.

I use 2 tabs mag. 20-30 mins before bed and it does have a calming effect, maybe that is why old timers always touted a small glass of warm milk before retiring. It works fast on me if I use a tad too much however as it gives me the runs.
Also, you might want to do some research into St Johns Wort, as there is some science behind it and it can give a better sense of well being and calmness. Valerian is also a fairly good sleep and calming aid.
If you are having trouble with tension, be mindful of stimulants. Not saying to cut out your coffee all together, as that seems to make some people tense by restricting certain behaviors to an extreme, but to cut back on any coffee and or sodas.
Lastly, and don't laugh, try a root lock exercise, google it, by tensing your perineum (area between the balls and anus that hold back pee or poop muscles) for a count of 5 seconds and then releasing doing this a few times and throughout the day.

I can't find it now, but there was a study that correlated leaness with magnesium intake..and also blood pressure levels..I'll find it here sometime...

In for some brands. I use Mag Orotate, but it's a little pricy. No idea where Mag Glycinate is price wise. Also interested in Mag Threonate (Magtein) but that is expensive too.
Although, right now my pre bed Mag comes from 1 scoop Nimbus Poseidon and every other day or so, a scoop of Green Magnitude. Not really sure the Tyrosine pre bed is a good idea though... Still monitoring that one.
