Hi-Tech is a bizzare company to say the least. From constantly getting caught spiking supplements to getting raided by the DEA because of Ephedrine, Hi-Tech has had quite the storied existance thus far. I didn't mention the best part, their President and CEO Jared Wheat. Just find a few long articles on that guy and you've got entertainment for days. You can't make half of that s.hit up!
ALRI, owned by Scott Jensen a.k.a L. Rea, have had their share or troubles too (though nowhere near what Hi-Tech has had). One product, Venom Hyperdrive, was found to contain high amounts of the (former) diet drug Sibutramine. The other was Jungle Warfare, which I believe was marketed as non-hormonal but in fact was hormonally spiked with the steroid 6-dmt.
What does everybody think about this? I've tried products form both companies that I thought were excellent (one of which I knew was spiked even before I purchased it, lol...). ALRI's stuff is even more expensive than Hi-Tech products, so that's a bit of a bummer.
Neither company has a very good reputation amongst their peers. Especially Hi-Tech. ALRI not as bad, but they don't have the cleanest track record either.
All of that says a TON, because we all know the amount of hatred within the supplement community one company or guru has for another one (and in many cases ALL of the other ones).
Anybody that's interested I'll post the link. The merger went down Jan. 1. The thoughts of anyone that may know how this will impact the industry are also welcomed (paging PA).
Hi-Tech is a huge company and L. Rea is one of the "supplement guys" that knows his stuff and is innovative. If I had a top-10 list for supplement gurus he would definately be on it.
