Best supplements for bjj/wrestling?

  1. Best supplements for bjj/wrestling?

What would be the best supplements for maintaining power endurance and strength during jiu jitsu and wrestling?

  2. Honestly beta alanine, mucana pruriens, and schizandra and maybe even a new product called demiurge could really help as a non-stim ergogenic stack with nootropic properties. Remember most of all benefits warranted in wrestling and BJJ comes from the brain, keeps the smarts up if you know what I mean.
    doing my own thang!

  3. MAN's Clout would be good or maybe Neogenix BodyForge for the COP and Citrulline malate. Also would think maybe adding Southlands GlycoMyx would be effective pretraining.

  4. you lose a lot of water in training right?
try more water, more electrolyte, and something help you breathe more.
maybe a supplement good for you is Millennium Cordygen VO2.
but in my opnion you can't get anything better than a Banana preworkout.

    This ^^^

MAN Clout would be my first choice. Then added CHO (I really do enjoy Glycomyx), LCLT, COP, and Citrulline Malate would all come next.

There's a guy running a log now who is using hemavol & compete during his mma training and loving it's effect on his endurance and recovery

  7. Honestly I would avoid any stims. I take a preworkout before going to the gym and go to bjj right after and I hate it if I am too amped up from the PWO there. Hemavol might be good as it is stim-free, but never tried it. Also beta alanine and citrulline malate would possibly make a difference. I love BCAAs for everything (more for recovery though). The best thing for bjj though, is getting enough sleep and eating at the right times during the day so that you feel awake alert and clear-headed in practice IMO.

    Best,
    Tyler

  8. DUring training I would look at Compete, Beta alanine

Post workout you can get in others like creatine, more citrulline malate and protein.

The compete is great for focus and recovery, but wont interfere with your training like some NO boosters will. Pumps are not what you are looking for in BJJ

taking the citrulline malate and creatine will help with dtrength and endurance, but being that the proper doses of citrulline malate can create NO production I would save most of it for post workout

All good advice, but I wouldn't worry about too much of a pump. Unless you are taking something that pumps you up enough to cause tight forearms or something like that, it doesn't interfere with bjj. Also, the pump is supposedly your muscles getting more oxygen and nutrient-carrying blood circulating to them, which wouldn't hurt. Just going from personal experience, I have never noticed any drawbacks to having a bit of a pump going when I get to class, especially since you get so pumped up within the first round or two of rolling anyway. Either way, all of those supps JN230 recommended seem great, although i can't stand BA (the tingles and flushed feeling I get start at very low doses and don't seem to go away forever). I recommend seeing if there are samples of these kind of things available for free or for cheap. You can experiment with different things and see what works for you. Some dudes I know go without anything and have no problems, others drink a cup of coffee and feel great, others take NO boosting products and like them...everyone is different, so I think it is time to do some experimenting! Good luck!

    Best,
    Tyler

  10. CLOUT or Body Octane for training. Something like Purple Wraath for competition days. And near the end of a competition since it's been a long day some kind of stim with clean energy maybe, depends on how long the tourney is for you.

Hemavol kind of surprises me. Getting a huge pump has been counterproductive for me in any combat sports since it kills flexibility and speed.

  12. Check out Protocol which should be hitting storse in less than two weeks which includes COP for endurance. Another of my favs is BodyOctane

i like hemavol for my BJJ training. First thing that goes out are my forearms. Hemavol reduces the lactic acid. Hemavol doesn't pump me up to make me stiff.

  16. Compete by iForce is a great choice. I would stack it with some beta alanine, MCC, and COP as I have found those to be beneficial in my sport as well.

Just checked out the old stuff, not bad looking. Anything else you're adding to it besides the COP? Adding more agmatine by chance? Citrulline malate?

This. as long as you're not doing 2 scoops or so much that the pump is overpowering, it can be beneficial for endurance activities. I've used it pre-cardio and it's definitely helped endurance levels

^this x2. Compete has made my workouts seem so much easier, as my recovery is amazing with it. Whether training, or playing pick up sports such as soccer or basketball, compete is something I've been sure to use lately, and the difference is noticeable

  22. I think the best supp for BJJ would def. be BCAA's. MGN has a great one. It's called BCAA Extended really gets the job done

Demiurge could certainly help, but recommended is not to take it everyday. 100mg here or there as the body builds a tolerance pretty fast. For competition days, HELL YES on the demiurge. But I will actually say Axon would be a better choice for this in general.

I agree with not using it everyday, but I am sorry that Axon contians an ingredient that lacks bio availability, even with food it won't help much. From personal experience, it gets a thumbs down.

  30. I would agree with the majority here in saying stay away from things with too much of a stimulant affect. You already elevate your heart rate enough training/competing in combat sports. I've had my own personal experiences with fatiguing too fast because of stimulants and I've seen numerous competitions and fights where people have had to quite because their heart rate being elevated too much. I've been taking Tritium made by Rocket Labs and I really like it.

This. A few friends of mine who do crossfit and mma have used compete and have said they definitely notice a difference in their endurance. Plus I love it for my workouts, really has helped me train harder for much longer
