DAA use to increase testosterone patented by Thermolife :O

I don't really know what the exact implications will be, but this seems to be quite a shocker:

Testosterone, Growth hormone, and/or Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 in Adult Males

ThermoLife International is granted use patent to increase
testosterone, growth hormone, and/or insulin like growth factor 1 in adult males
with the use of D Aspartic acid

    The ‘908 patent
dramatically strengthens ThermoLife’s ingredient portfolio. ThermoLife will only
enter into licensing agreements with companies that have a proven record of
making quality products and following FDA regulations.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) June 19, 2012

ThermoLife International, LLC (ThermoLife) announced today that the United
States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued U.S. Patent No. 8,202,908 (the
‘908 patent) for ThermoLife’s novel use of D-Aspartic acid (DAA). The patented
method uses a DAA compound to increase the levels of testosterone, growth
hormone, and/or insulin-like growth factor 1 in adult males. The potential
benefits of DAA are astounding and the patented method will transform
testosterone boosting dietary supplements and methods.

ThermoLife has a long history of developing innovative and proven products
and processes. With the addition of the ‘908 patent, ThermoLife has been awarded
seven patents covering more than 20 various compounds and methods of use, and
still has many pending applications in the pipeline and new technologies at
    various stages of development.

These patents protect ThermoLife’s innovative and proven products and
methods, as well as validate ThermoLife’s market leadership in new dietary
ingredient research. These patents also allow ThermoLife to continue building
confidence with its licensing partners and give consumers and companies that
work with ThermoLife assurance that they are buying one-of-a-kind products that
    they cannot get elsewhere.

    About Thermolife
Founded in 1998, ThermoLife is dedicated to developing
real products and methods that work. ThermoLife is a leading manufacturer in the
sports nutrition and supplement industry. ThermoLife is committed to developing
only the purest, most effective, and innovative products. For more information
about ThermoLife and its patents, or to license any of ThermoLife’s patented
ingredients contact Ron Kramer at Ron(at)ThermoLife(dot)com
ThermoLife International LLC Announces Issuance of US Patent for D-Aspartic Acid Use to Increase Testosterone, Growth hormone, and/or Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 in Adult Males

It looks like any company using DAA and making hormonal claims will now have to pay royalties to Thermolife. I'm pretty sure this also means that some companies will have to pull their product given Ron Kramer's stance on 'shady companies'.

I haven't read the patent yet, but I'm wondering if it also covers specific forms like sodium DAA and D-Aspartate Calcium Chelate. I also wonder if TL is able to seize profits made will the patent was pending. Any patent lawyers here?

Edit: So it seems it does cover D-aspartate salts, esters, and other derivatives

I believe they replaced it (Viridex XT) with another one (Anatropin). Gotta love Kneller's inheritance. First the DMAA lawsuit and now this. LOL.

Patrick warned companies years ago that he had a patent in the works, and that if it was accepted, they would have to pay royalties if they decided to use it without permission.

N-methyl-D-aspartic acid. The D-aspartic acid compound is suitable in its

DL-aspartic acid because of its ready availability and low cost.

In this instance, I can see it from PA's standpoint, but Thermolife just lost all respect in my books. Money grabs galore, just what the industry needs.

I really enjoy some thermolife products, but this is some bull**** if DAA prices go up.

Ultimately, Ron Kramer is protecting Patrick Arnolds intellectual property/invention, so I respect him for that. The industry needs more innovation, and less copy cat BS.

    IMO.

Maybe I'm missing some information (law isn't quite my thing). Why is it necessary for RK to protect PA? I respect innovation for sure (nitrates included), but I fail to see how TL is involved in the novelty of DAA.

Does PA receive some of these royalties?

I can understand that bc the guy keeps bring new stuff to the table and then every other company uses it. He should be ballin'

From what I understand, the only person who would be able to profit from the patent would be the patent holder (or anyone the patent holder would license the rights to). So, only RK would be making money, not PA.

Then again, I didn't think you could patent other peoples work, so what the hell do I know?
