Few Questions about ZMA.

If you are not deficient in Zinc or Magnesium, would taking ZMA have an adverse effect? It is claimed that if you are deficient, then taking ZMA will help maintain a healthy hormone level in males. So, could this actually have a harmful effect if you are taking in all this Zinc that your body does not need?

Also, I have been taking ZMA for about the past year, daily, without any breaks. Many people will say that there is no need for taking time off, however, I plan on taking the whole month of January off just to take a break from all supps I have been running daily. Will I notice any difference in feeling due to maybe a drop in T, or a decrease in size since I will no longer be dosing ZMA daily, or even a change in libido or performance since this supp is claimed to increase your T levels a bit?

Just looking for some further info on this product, any help is great.

srocco, I do not have any direct answers to your questions, sorry about that LOL. But I do notice a slight increase in recovery and deeper sleep when taking ZMA. As long as you're not taking massive amounts of zinc a day, the zinc contained in a ZMA supplement should have no harmful effect at all. Even if you are not deficient, taking it will help ensure you do not BECOME deficient. It's so cheap nowadays it's a staple for me. One of the first supplements on my list when I make an order.

As for how you're going to feel w/o the ZMA....who knows. If you have trouble getting to sleep you may or may not experience something there....maybe with recovery. It's hard to tell on an individual basis. I would not anticipate any loss in size, but I know for me it slightly improved libido. Whether that is b/c I feel more rested while taking it who knows.

As far as the ZMA goes, you won't have a deleterious effect from using the product. With the potential for slightly lower T levels due to various reasons, ZMA can help raise those T levels to normal or near normal (not above your normal baseline though). Improved sleep quality is the first notable effect. By working out a daily activity you can/will deplete both zinc and magnesium, so a ZMA supplement would be a wise choice after picking up a multi vitamin.

As far as I know ZMA does nothing if you already have optimal zinc levels in your body. However being zing defficient leads to lower testosterone levels.

I normally use it during PCT to improve sleep and to make sure that my zinc levels at least are fine.
