so my package came in yesterday and i opened it late last night when i got off of work and took a glimpse at it and left it on the counter of the kitchen. as soon as i woke up this morning and came down stairs my mom started freaking out telling me the new supplement i ordered is "dangerous" and could "kill me". i grinned and laughed a little. she said "whats so funny" and i told her its not dangerous. she started reading all the info on it out loud about how "extremely potent it is, find your tolerance, consult a physician, etc". i told her thats just fancy marketing and labeling. she didnt believe me and went on how its not FDA approved and how by taking it i could have a heart attack in the middle of my workout if i pushed myself too hard while taking this. i laughed again. she got angry. i told her nothing is approved by the FDA, even your vit C supps. end of conversation.

haha sounds like my mom, I gave my fam a lesson on steroids and had them watch Bigger Stronger Faster, and as soon as it was over my mom looked me dead in the eye and was like "You aren't doing steroids are you?"

I never have, but I just disagree with the bad rep they have because of the media.

Needless to say she thinks I am juicing....kinda funny

Because of plastic waste. There is obviously a case there but to take a stand with bottled water, what a joke. How about cigarette butts, gum, fast food (wrappers), grocery bags, pop bottles, vehicle emissions.... The majority of global pollutants comes from big buisness and certain countries. Its rediculous to me its like banning vegetables because we put them in plastic bags.

LOL

Dude Toronto bottle water HAS NOT been banned. Selling bottles of water on municipel property IE. City Hall has been banned, because of a growing issue of going "green". This was also in the same bill to pass a 10cent charge on all plastic bags when shopping so that it will deter the public from using products that are hard to recycle.

BTW Are you from Toronto?

Very true. Education is key.

But i have to say people are starting to smoke less and less. People are just more educated now about it and know the consequences.
We just need to do the same thing with horrible fast foods.

K i can be a lunatic and i guess my selective reading jumped in. The wording in the news article i read was less descriptive but i find the ideology retarded due to the daunting problems in the world and this, this is what is getting action. I also now that this is how things start, small initiative to gauge public response could get bigger, and once again big buisness is responsible for approx? 70% of emissions and large amounts of waste.

True, I guess they just wanted to start things one step at a time when reducing garbage. I dont really disagree with it. But i never buy bottled water, I cant understand everyone buying it when i can just get it myself from the tap lol. Heck 10 years ago bottled water wasnt even that big, now everyone is buying them. It seems so strange since its free.

My mom actually asked me if my protein shakes would prevent me from having kids. And she's a nurse!!! Luckily, after being picked up by AX, they got the idea that I know what I'm doing. :)

Lesson here is to either not share with mum or use enough big words to convince her that it's ok.

I personally love when people try to prove to me that what im doing is unhealthy...then i can use some science to make them look like idiots...my parents personally never asked/told me to stop any of the supplements cause i would explain to them in GREAT detail of how they work in the body...they usually dont understand so they just trust me to do the right thing...

A couple years ago I was living with my grandmother for a short time while I got on my feet. When I took a trip to the grocery after getting interested in healthy foods and such, she insisted that eating too much tuna would give me a heart attack. The complements were even worse about my mono powder! It was hilarious and I still remind her of it to this day!

Don't get me started about doctors, there supposed to know better but the don't. I remember when my son first got his back injury and we took him to a so called sports doctor and he recommended that he get down under 200 lbs. Here he was 270 lbs with a lean body weight of around 215-220, what did he want me to do chop off one of his legs.

Most doctors have no concept of bigger athletes. Look at what they go by the BMI !! I just read in an article that they believe that a male with a waist of over 37 inches is a greater risk for heart attack etc... What a blanket statement there are a lot more variables than that. There just clueless when it comes to general health and fitness.

you knows its also sad that i probably have a better grasp on proper diet and nutrition than the dietician who is helping my sister with her weight loss. the dietician had my sister simply cut calories, and as long as she was getting the calories over 3 meals, she was fine. i then explained to her the science behind eating more smaller meals, and the reason for carb cut offs, and why fat is more important than carbs for sedentary people, and she was blown away.

this lady told my sister she could technically have all her protein servings or fat servings or carb servings in one sitting. and then eat whatever calories were left throughout the day. i was like "are you f*cking kidding me? come here, were writing you a diet plan" haha.

too bad shes not following it :(

:icon_lol: Wow where do these people get their license to practice out of a cracker jack box ?

There was this show on T.V. where they brought in a dietician and the idea was the women would use a combination of diet and excercise along with cosmetic surgery to look as good as possible in a short period. This so called diet expert put eveny woman on the same fugging diet of 1200 calories a day. Doesn't matter how much they had to lose there basal metabolic rate nothing. 1200 calories every one of them. Unbelievable... yah the looked good after the surgery and crash diet but what happened to their metabolism later.

I get labeled "crazy" because I call Mcfatties a drug lord preying on children. I have seen that same behavior Jacob. It makes me sick.

The garbage they put in there food is known to release endorphines and serotonin among other feel goods.(Forgive my layman terms.)

I am 36 and my mom is worried about my excercise regime and supplements as well. From now on she is banned from the office at my house:).

lol........I cant argue, i just laugh also.

Fast food, cigs, pharms and alcohol are doing more damage then people really think.

Easy answer!
doctors are paid by the pharma bussiness (pfizer etc...)
They visit them on a regular base. to promote them.
Good example : Whey sleeping pill when you can use Melatonin? In Europe it is forbidden to use melatonin, you HAVE to use only sleeping pills ?!?!?
The more drugs there are sold in a drugstore, the better for them.

Every product sold in a nutrition-shop, means $$$ less for the pharmaceutical companies..
Ofcourse they say sports nutrition is bad!

Yes there is that aspect as well, they don't want to know about alternative medicine.

It's all about the money....and they make zippy on supps and tons on Big Pharma and their free lunches from the hot reps! In bed w/ the FDA, too...which is why they hate on all this stuff.

Unless you go to a Holistic/Natural doc, etc......
