Will it cause me to be tired the next day if I dose 6mg before bed?

    It's crazy but...

I have 60 3mg caps. I am using it with a stack. This stack will last 30 days. I want the melatonin to last the same amount of time. If I dose 6mg (2 caps) every night, the bottle will last 30 days.

Okay, tell me I'm crazy now.

If u give urself 6-9 hours of sleep 6mgs will be fine...i have personally taken a max dose of 30mgs b4 bed and was still able to wake up within 7 hours...i personally feel much less groggy the next morning when taking melatonin/gaba compared to any other prescription drugs...

I just take it on workout days, hoping I wont build up a tolerance, and workout days are when I have alot of stims from my PreWO, so it helps knock me out.

Ok wtf happened? last night was the first time I ever tried melatonin 1.5mg (I crushed the mg pill in half) and this stuff kept me awake all night long. I couldn't sleep for more than an hour.

3mg is enough to make me sleep like a baby. I do feel a bit groggy if I don't get at least 6 hours of sleep so I'd just pop a stim in the morning to make me feel like a lion.

ok for one, .25mg-1mg is far more effective than 6mg. If you use 6mg youre not researching or learning.
Also, bottles are not the inal say in dose. This is perfect example. Some are over some are under...look at the real studies not the label.

I would strongly suggest STARTING at .25-.5mg~ yea yea you got the tabs, so do i. its called a knife. make a half cut, then another half cut, there ~.75mg doses. I LITERALLY, nibble some off the tab these days for a few reasons. Itll last waaayyy longer.
You wont chance dependance as fast OR messed up seratonin levels which could result in anger, sleepy feel, irretability, etc etc. These are neuro transmitters youre messin with. I suggest you do research.

    goodluck.

Also, why are you worried about running it as a "stack"?

The best sleep combo i have used to date is my current. 3-4g GABA, .5mg~ melatonin, 500mg~ L-Dopa, 1.4g Piracetam.

I used to LOVE Neurobalance with GABA and Melatonin, that was some ridiculous sleep/dreams.

if you expose you eyes to light ASAP it will help diminish the effects. Just like once you dose youre supposed to make sure lights are off. Its not a hardcore sleep agent, it releases hormones/chemicals in your brain/body to help you along.

Melatonin is a wierd drug. It tells your body that it's dark, and to prepare for sleep. It does not actually make you tired like a sleeping pill would. I actually enjoy taking 3mg melatonin, watching some tv for about 2 hours, then crashing. I feel like a zombie when I'm trying to walk around on melatonin. LOL!

I respectfully disagree with you, at least when it comes to those doses of the melatonin- 0.5 mg (the dose where I started when I first started taking mela) does not really do much of anything to me, and 3 mg works ok, but not as well as 6 mg (at least for me). I have been taking melatonin off and on for a number of years (at least 9, maybe 10, not real exactly sure- I think since 97')- and I have found that 9 mg is too much, at least for me, and 2-4 mg is too little. I like L-Dopa as well- I usually just take 3 of our Lipo-PM- it has 75% L-Dopa Mucuna Pruriens...

Yes, they make me really tired. They also make me feel really good. I love to come home from the gym, pop a melatonin and eat some food. It's so relaxing. I hit the sack a couple of hours later.

Agree with RMS here. There are actually loads of benefits to using higher doses of melatonin. LEF has a great article on it on their site.

I have been experimenting with 10 to even 20 mg of melatonin per night along with a 1-1.5 grams of L-tryptophan per night. No grogginess unless I get less than 7 hours of sleep. No decline in libido..in fact, I would say it's higher. Research and articles on it's GH releasing properties seem to be true..been feeling really good these last few months, staying somewhat lean despite a terrible diet and my skin seems a little younger looking.

No negative sides noticed. No dependency issues noted.

i understand everyone is different so im not trying to place arguements.
    - Yes, i have known melatonin is good for GH release.
Maybe ill try a bit higher dose. Ill do some experimenting over the next few weeks and then report back or make a thread. I just get worried about seratonin levels and everything else. I understand it is a good antioxidant and yes, skin improval has been noted in others.

    rms, no worrries.

understandable serotonin is not something to mess w/- I used to dabble with E and other assorted things back in the day- gotta be careful with anything that alters neurochemicals (or any homeostatic process in the body)- better to start low 1st, so I completely agree....

I take 6-9 mg at night and I feel great in the morning. The only problem I run into is sleep eating and walking. The eating part is what I try to avoid. This is just something I've always done whenever I've been in a deep sleep. I also talk in my sleep or so I'm told. So I usually stick to 6 mg.

3 mg is considered a maximun, and to some nutritionists, a high dose of melantonin. for those of you mazing this up to 6 and 9 - how long term have you been employing this for. one concern in melantonin production in the body is its role in migrain headaches.

How the F are "nutritionists" gonna know S*** if the scientists don't even know what the longterm effects high dosage are?

BTW high dose melatonin is being researched currently to fight against certain types of cancers, the results so far are very solid.

i wasn't exactly critisizing long term use. part of the research i was talking about is supplementation with melantonin to balance its hormonal levels in the body for migraine sufferers.

    Will You Be Tired?

First, our dosage is 5mg not 6 mg. You will not be tired in any way the next day. The dosage is delivered over 6-hours and by the time you wake up you are good to go!

We must say that our 5mg transdermal dose is the optimal dose. First, unlike oral melatonin supplements, our delivery is via a 6-hour timed release. So you are not getting all of the dosage at once. Second, even though the patch dosage is 5mg, there is some "shrinkage" in the transdermal process. So the effective dose is between 3.5mg and 4.5mg.

The melatonin patch is fantastic! We hope you will trial it.

I think that over 3mg of melatonin isn't very good for our body. If melatonin is high, then it doesn't help you to fall asleep. The opposite happens! Also you get used to, so you must take it only when you really need to fall asleep fast.

There are some studies also, but i don't have a link!
